Hot Toys Batman Comparison

Hi guys its Ric here , welcome to my channel TheClipperKing . I review mainly 1/6 scale figures or toys if you will :O) by companies such as Hot Toys , Enterbay , Blitzway and sometimes even custom pieces . I now have well over 300 uploaded videos on my channel so please be sure to have a good look around and please like , comment and subscribe to my channel but I should also warn you that many of my videos are not suitable for children and carry an 18 rating . I would also like to say that I try to remain brutally honest about the items I review and with my opinions in general .
The items I review and collect would include such things as movie versions of most of the latest Marvel films including .....Spiderman , X-Men Wolverine , The Avengers , Iron Man , Hulk , Thor , Captain America , Hawkeye , Black Widow and others .
Also DC Comic creations such as ...Batman , Superman , The Man Of Steel , Joker ,Bane and Catwoman .
Also other Sci-fi characters like Predator , Terminator , Robocop , Alien , Dredd , Star Wars .
And some other iconic movie characters like ...Godfather , Scarface , Indiana Jones , Darth Vader , Luke Skywalker , Rocky and Rambo .
And from the world of music the superstar Michael Jackson from Thriller , Bad , Billie Jean and Beat It .
NBA all time greats like Michael Jordan , Kobe Bryant , LeBron James , Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin
Although I don't yet have my holy grail figure which would be Muhammad Ali
Other reviewers I like and enjoy are Moggie215 , Deanknight333 , Anthony Tsang , Xenomorph , Ryno and many many more . We're not as big as the likes of SEAN LONG , ShartimusPrime and Optibotimus but we do try :O)

The 1989 bat suit will always be my all time favorite. It’s just so classic and he looks like he isn’t wearing a suit like the return does.

Yeah but the Batsymbol on the 1989 suit is a bit of a deal-breaker. The extra legs Burton decided to add to it just to plus it up are hugely unnecessary.

@@thestarkknightreturns I actually like the bat symbol on the 89 suit. And the reason for that symbol was cause at the time of making the suit they didn’t have the License to use the official bat logo.

@@editorodriguez6554 nope, that's a myth. It wasn't a licensing problem. Burton wanted to spice up the symbol. Go look it up.

Rick.. the "dumb fuck" look on the 89 is keatons classic smirk! like when Jack Napier says "nice outfit" and the camera cuts back to batman.. keaton is the only one to date that could smirk as batman and look menacing.. like.."yeah.. I'm gonna fuck you up soon keep talkin your shit.." however.. on the returns figure... yeah.. they're pretty much just dumb fuck looks.. lol.. anyway..love your vids brother.. looking forward to the next one..

As much I love that Returns cowl (he looks much more badass) 89 is the film I grew up with, and I absolutely agree that he is the quintessential Keaton Batman. And I never liked the Returns chest and abdominal plates. The abs are much more elegant and badass. It's a real shame about the lack of articulation though... I love posing my Reeve Superman... tough choice!

I watched Ric's ( The Clipper King) review on Batman 89 and 92 Hot Toys figures and I have to say that I don't agree with his review. I think that the Batman Returns Hot Toys figure is much more movie accurate than the DXO9 figure. The Michael Keaton likeness on the Batman returns figure is amazing. The DXO9 looks a lot more cartoonish to me.

You read my mind with this video. I have the '89. At first glance the Batman Return looks similar and you did a damn near perfect job showing the differences.

Rumor has it 89 Batman AND 89 Joker are both getting updated and reissued along with TDK Joker.

I see the likeness in both. I think the difference in appearance is owed to the cowl grabbing Keaton's face differently in the respective films. 89's cowl bigger and bulkier (more rubber) and his face took on a jowl effect. Returns cowl slenderized his face (for the most part, anyway.)

I have '89 Batman...and LOVE it....but...Returns Batman is just a better design IMHO and I always liked Returns better than the original movie...They'll be displayed proudly together with Bruce and Joker....here's hoping we get Penguin and Catwoman

That 89 film just started it all for me as a kid still one of my favorite im not a huge poser with my hot toys anyway i gotta go with the 89 the abs look better the suit material is really based on what it looked like in the film it did have a rubber look

For the 1989 version which is the first Batman you were talking about the expression face that Michael Keaton had well that expression face is called the" smirk smile " which was what Michael Keaton did when he first met Jack Nicholson in the refinery Factory and Jack Nicholson said" hum nice outfit".. and then and that's when Michael Keaton gave him that" smirk smile"..response...

if the PERS are off, i can guarantee the fault is the application of the paint (or positioning), which is definitely annoying. I prefer the separate/independently moving eyes over the 1 stem

Great video Clipper, I've only got the returns version and a part of me still wants to pick up the 89....also I've ordered a cape from Tony for my returns because that stock cape is awful to me and also because all my other batmen wear Tony's capes....cheers

You're "pouty look" faceplate, as you call it, if you place it on the figure I learned is the smile he gives when he's in Axis Chemical where Jack Nicholson says "Nice outfit!" Michael Keaton smiles back. That's what that face plate is.

i thought most of your comments were bang on just not regarding the 89 cape was dreadful is was so big and looked a mess i did own 89 batman but you couldn't pose him his arms just went done like in the video and i had to buy a new cape as the 89 was a dogs mess the returns one was much improved and looks great out of the box and hangs nicely even in your video the 89 cape looks bad while returns looks good and i won't be replacing it :) enjoyed the video thou so thanks :)

Returns look spot on like Keaton, much more than 89.

It does. I think that it's mostly to do with the fact that Keaton worked out more for the sequel which made him look more lean around the chops. The Returns cowl arguably does more to hide the expression in his eyes with the furrowed brow. I do think the 1989 does look more like Keaton though. It borders on perfection (Clippers close up of the faceplates hammers this home @6:51). Where the 1992 goes wrong to my eyes is that the face looks too long and the philtrum between the upper lip and nose is a fraction too much.
