Disgaea 3 - Laharl Ending

I am sure others have pointed it out (or read it online), but this is a gag by the developers about early design drafts. Originally, Mao (or rather the protagonist of Disgaea 3) was planned to be the son of Laharl and Flonne.

2 years late but that's what I originally Thought Mao was going to be when I bought this game. Though this game wasn't exactly the greatest(The alter endings make it worth while at least)

Super late but I liked tgis ensing and decided to rewatch this. Never knew it was a gag. Funny thing was that once the 1st trailer and characters were revealed I felt Mao coud have been Laharl's son just based on design. I wonder why they decided against doing that? I assume they were afraid of aging their characters.

For those coming here just now that don't know, this was a gag on who Mao's parents were originally intended to be, Laharl and Flonne. Had NIS still went that route, it woule mean that Cecily would be Mao's aunt and Krechevkoy (I may have spelled that wrong) his grampa. That would make for one badass bloodline. Even more badass than Zetta

In retrospect its weird that they kind of reused this joke in Disgaea D2 with Flonee and Etna debating who Rozalin's mother was thinking that Roz's father was Laharl. Knowing that they believed that she was Laharl's daughter from the future.

Believe it or not, A lot of fans thought Mao was the son of Flonne and Laharl before Disgaea was even released. Mostly due to the info and other teasers Nippon-Ichi gave about the game like his character design(which resembles Laharl), his personality(again, Laharl), his background at an Academy (which we know that Flonne became a teacher in the Netherworld), and being the son of an Overworld. Really, Nippon=Ichi knows how to play their fans lol.

Barbara goodson is still my fav voice actor from here cause of laharl its just so perfect for him. Even his laugh I love it. Even though I did notice that too. I picked up almost right away that Rasberyl and Almaz has the same voice actors as Emil and Marta from Tales of Symphonia 2

@Deathoftheshadowlair I get what you're saying, but he doesn't see Etna as merely a subordinate. That's only a front, like with his "love is stupid" belief. Etna Mode and Disgaea 2 both hint that they're capable of being more than friends. Given their personalities, however, both may not able to become husband/wife. That's why I go with the option that Etna can, at least, be Laharl's mistress while Flonne's his wife.

@Jrust139 Personality makes no difference in the Disgaea world, the hero always beats the overlord. Almaz being a true hero has the right of way. Though I guess it also depends on which game they fight in, because being the main character supersedes that law.
