On one hand, he’s symmetrical and doesn’t say “may” so mana barbs will hurt. On the other hand, if you give him lifelink, you actually break even on him shooting you, so long as he doesn’t have infect

This deck gives me flashbacks to my friend’s “choices” Yurlock deck. Everything you do will hurt you, so you have to make a lot pf tense choices. Mana burn, tap land burn, end step and upkeep burn. Burn burn burn pain pain pain suffering suffering suffering.

@@helios566 and they have 1 power so effectively they are 3 power, or if your commander has deathtouch then they are effectively 3/1s with deathtouch that ping a player for 3 when they die or outright kill a creature when they die. Pretty strong

Adding to this list, stuffy doll would basically do 5 damage for free each turn. Then another 5 for any spells that do 1 damage to every creature. That is, if I'm not misunderstanding how that would play out.

Building a Veyron deck...If I'm reading this right one of the creatures that do 1 dmg when an instant/sorcery is cast will double with Veyron plus do 4 from Ghyrson...Going to need it.

This is when you also need to mention Urza's Armor so a lot of these effects are negated for you all the 1 damage global effects become just your opponents with that and makes things incredibly lopsided. With the effect "If a source would deal damage to you, prevent 1 of that damage." and also being insanely budget friendly at $0.18 I am just surprised it was not in this video.

Orbs of Warding also does this. Slap any pro-red on your boy and you can burn the world down very quickly. God forbid you have a neheb with the post-combat mana effect for the damage you did this turn and well you have a stew brewing.

@@saman7890 Orb doesnt work as well as it only prevents creature damage and a lot of the good globals are enchants so it doesn't stop those but having both in deck could be nice.

Definitely building it. Just the weak spells like dual shot, blazing volley or anything where you can choose how to distribute damage like magic missile becomes multi target removal or token sweepers. Or I have a kelsien the plague deck where the whole thing is giving creatures like shock maw dragon death touch and every time they attack they ping the board for one. Even something like devil tokens. They have to block them or they’re just gonna keep getting lightning bolts to the face. But if they do get blocked now it’s a double lightning bolt. Or the amount of red creatures that ping something when they block or become blocked. On top of just all the tap ping everyone cards…

Defiler of Instinct is insane with this card. As long as you can draw cards (curiosity), you can put a lifelink equipment on Ghyrson, play lots of red permanents without using red mana, hit something, gain life, draw a card, and maybe cast another red permanent to keep going. All you need then is infinite mana, and as long you are playing pretty much mono red, you can play your whole deck. Treasonous Ogre might work for the "infinite mana" part as long as you can keep gaining life with Impact Tremors or something

Alright so question would this commander and work with damage multipliers? For instance you go to deal 1 then Ghyrson steps in and deals 2, fiery emancipation is out: go to deal the 1 it's now 3 then go to deal the 2 it's now 6 or would it not work like that?

I can imagine someone doing the "create 1/1 elemental swarm" strategy to swarm enemies with and it backfiring horribly by someone playing a rakdos charm. (each of the creatures would do 1 damage to that player and if they control the creature it deals one damage to ANY player including themselves, they take 3 damage instead of 1 as the card has no friendly fire safeguard!)

Tibalt rakish instigator would be great for this too, makes 1/1 cannon fodder that will deal 3 damage to anything when they die and he'll prevent your opponents from gaining life.

Izzet has been my fav color combo since I got introduced to Magic, which was only a few years ago when Niz Mizzet Parun was in standards so it was one of the Ravnica sets when arena came out I'm almost certain. Since then I got more into commander and this is what I've been waiting for it seems, this card makes a lot of budget cards seem ridiculous lol.

Even without going nuts with curiosity shenanigans, storm of infinite combo, this with stuff like Torbran in a pingers deck is gonna be brutal. "I tap Cunning Smarkmage for 1. You take 3 from him, and another 4 from my commander. Wait sorry no I forgot I have Fiery Emancipation in play, better make that 9 and 12 respectively for 21 damage from a single ping this turn. Oh silly me, forgetting the Sparkmage is equipped with Illusionist's Bracers.. better make that 42 damage."

Niv-Mizzet would deal one when you draw a card, and this commander would deal two additional. The only thing that this commander cares about is that one point of damage.

@@joeyshafer5479 I’m thinking the way to go is with a spellslinger strategy where you deal damage with Kessig Firebreather, Firebrand Archer, or anything else that deals damage on casting spells. Add in Murmuring Mystic and Young Pyromancer to make 1/1 creatures. Witty Roastmaster or Impact Tremors to deal damage when creatures ETB. Locust God for when you draw cards.
