Small note - this game was the first time in over 3 years of playing EDH at a pretty high competitive level that I have ever seen an infect deck win a 4 player game. Infect is a very intense mechanic - and it keeps decks honest - but it is impossibly hard to win with it against multiple people.

Honest? It's cheap as fuck. No interaction, no respect for the other players. Only face. It's almost as bad as Face Hunter in Hearthstone.

"Honest" as in there's no politics. The threat is established and there's no pussyfooting around it. You all group up to take him out, or you all lose, as can be seen in this video.

+Jimmy Wong I just built my own Alesha deck a few weeks ago and spun the wheels just the other night. Didn't get to combo, but man, draining people to blood artist type triggers and saccing value dudes for cards and removal, the deck did a little too well. I won twice, politicking to the last 2, and then draining for 24 life in one turn. The other, stalling the board with attrition and maze of ith into the late game, and then wiping the board of magus of the disk, drawing 14 cards from vampiric rites+grim haruspex, reanimating my whole board the next turn and swinging out with anger in the yard and pumping with mirror entity. 4 of my 6 decks abuse the graveyard. I think it's about time my friends start packing more hate.

I don't think Viscera Seer and Solemn Simulacrum works like that, does it? You sack the Simulacrum to put the Scry 1 trigger on the stack, then Simulacrum's trigger goes on the stack above it. You have to draw, then scry. You can't do it the other way around.

Nathan Marcano That's interesting to force your opponents to slow down and only be able to draw once per turn. But honestly, it might draw instant hate, or the opponent might even just use it to Tutor a win con on their very first turn after she's out

FYI, for all of the Expertise Cycle cards (From the release notes): "While you’re casting your free spell, the Expertise spell is still on the stack. It will be put into its owner’s graveyard after the free spell is cast. The free spell can’t target the Expertise card in your graveyard. It can target the Expertise spell on the stack, but the Expertise spell will become an illegal target before the free spell resolves." Cheers and thanks for continuing this fantastic video series.
@bigblind6422
@bigblind6422 7 жыл бұрын
Crimzin the release note quoted is correct but your comment does not apply in that context. You resolve the card top to bottom. In that case you draw first, then cast the free spell. The casting of the free spell happens while the expertise is still on the stack. If you refer to an earlier release note if you have no creatures you draw 0 but can then still cast a free spell.

My play group house ruled in commander poison counters is 20 not 10. Essentially 1/2 starting life total As it was in other formats.

This feels so much more organic and genuine than the newer episodes. They were just enjoying themselves. It was fun to watch and they were actually funny. In the newer episodes it feels so forced and it ends up being so cringey. Dont get me wrong, I still enjoy watching the games themselves but these episodes are soooooooo much better.

Its so interesting to see back when you played with good friends, rather than new people you don't know as well. The jokes go on for a lot longer as you all bounce your personalities off each other. Very heartwarming tbh

I'm working my way back words through all the command zones downloading them off the site. Quick question would you get more of a benefit if I was to watch the videos when possible? Second note in game 1 I think I figured out why you always get targeted Josh because being the political Mastermind means you generally convince people on who to attack the infect players prey on you because they are already inherently scarier than most opponents they don't need your help to villainize them.

yep it was definitely amazing it's always interesting to see combo decks and regular decks kind going toe-to-toe with the table it seems like Jimmy just had it all worked out in his mind every step of the way and you were just a speed bump Josh who's kind of a shame that the other two didn't get to go off the way they they clearly wanted to but having una at the table makes it always an interesting game

Whether you watch the videos or download the audio versions doesn't matter too much for us! We aren't focused on making ad dollars off of our videos. I would just recommend watching the video versions for episodes like our set reviews if you'd like them to be more easily digestable!

Jimmy Wong well I try to watch everything a few times on different devices, I'm surprised you let viewers pick you deck Josh, was is part of a stretch goal or a personal choice, memories seems so.... not political lol maybe people make that your thing too much. Very exited to se the next one, once a week or more would be awesome but clearly the editing and actually arranging of a time to see friends/colleagues and sit down for a few hours is time consuming in itself. Thanks for the great content in all its various forms (this being my favorite while I'm not driving my 40 min commute) keep it up

instead of stealing the Elspeth you totally should've stolen the ichorclaw myr
@Kestral287

Then Craig ults Elspeth and kills them both? On the following turn he could have taken the Myr but again: in that board state he just dies to Craig.

Kestral287 wait, no I stand by that statement. he should've let the Elspeth die then take the myr.
@Kestral287
@Kestral287 7 жыл бұрын
There's an argument to that line. However, the Myr only matters if Josh Kim draws exactly a trample enabler on his next turn. That happened to be what happened, but it's a question of where the upside lies
@Lthe1
@Lthe1 7 жыл бұрын
Kestral287 I mean, stealing Elspeth didn't really help him in any way but by grabbing at least one of the creatures would've possibly set him back, but it's true that it's impossible to really be able to predict what might happen.

narcissism is a bit much. he’s just known as the infect player in the playgroup and he feels strongly for it. Also everyone is a bit awkward in his acting here so that could factor into it
