"...this is the right amount of horsepower for the street." Correct, sir! Couldn't agree more. I've been riding for 20+ years and this bike is the G.O.A.T. It's a great, great bike bone stock, but drop a few grand into it and it will blow your mind. I put a Yoshimura R3 full system on it, a Power Commander, upgraded suspension front and rear, a custom seat, and mounted XSR900 bars. Street perfection. Can't wait until I burn through the stock rubber and slap on some sportier buns!

Awesome! Yeah it's super fun for sure. Unfortunately as of last year you can't buy any aftermarket full exhaust systems for motorcycles. The two brothers manufacturing facility is 20 minutes from my house and they're literally not allowed to sell their stuff in California. The emissions laws here are just embarrassing. So stupid. But my birthday is coming up and perhaps I could receive a certain "gift" from my friend in Nevada lol.

Can I ask why xsr900 bar?
@adamwhizbang
@adamwhizbang 10 ай бұрын
@@everythingcanwork5215 I just prefer narrower bars. I used to do some racetrack riding and have owned a few sportbikes. The stock 700 bar felt too tall and too wide to me. It felt like riding a dual sport bike. The 900 stock bar is a perfect replacement if you want a slightly sportier feel.

I've been wanting to get my license for motorcycles for a while and I'm already looking into what bike I would want. I'm a huge Yamaha fan and this bike just looks awesome. Is this bike a good starting point for beginners or should I aim for something different? I'm looking for a good all-round and comfortable bike that is also nice for (small) road trips and daily commuting.

The XSRs make great sound stock, I have an XSR 125 I bought at the end of 22 as my first bike (btw they all have full LCD lights now I believe, at least the 125 is full LCD all around), and it's surprisingly good sounding. Never felt the need to go for an aftermarket exhaust. That deep throaty sound it makes is very satisfying, and it's only a 125 single. Saturday evening I went for a 2.5 hour ride, took her seaside, mountain twisties, came home with a smile on my face and no fatigue and I'm almost 50, that roar. Having said that, an XSR 900 with an aftermarket exhaust I saw the other day on YT was out of this world, I have absolutely no business going for anything over the 700 but the sound that triple made was sensational. Glad you came out of that shocking crash unscathed and hopefully will learn from it, please take it to the track for hard riding everyone who have access to one. The only way to learn to control your bike at the limit is to go over the limit and there's only one place you can do that safely.

Most people dont understand what "spongy means" Breaks should have progressive feel and tighter you press more breaking.What you dont want abrupt high breaking even with light input.That's not safe so I like "spongy" breaks.I ride Nighthawk 750 with single caliper disk at front and after 18k miles no issues even though its breaking is totally old school and archaic.Old CB750 breaks were not even that good but did the job.Point here is we act like spoiled kids and dont understand that even moderately equipped bike is ridable.What's important to me is engine and XSR700 nails it.

Awesome! I always wonder if an fz-09 or an MT 10 could be more fun than my bike on the streets. But then I think there's a case to be made that the mt07 and xsr700 is the most fun bike for canyons and city streets because it has much shorter gearing than the other two bikes. It's like having a fast Miata or something. There is definitely something special about this engine
@clubstyleridahd4695
@clubstyleridahd4695 Жыл бұрын
I sold my mt09 to buy a 2017 sv650 and it's been great. Just the right amount of power to be fun and be able to bang through the gears at full throttle. The mt09 was too much power for 1st and 2nd gear it would wheelie at half throttle. I just couldn't use it the way I can on my SV. Also the mt09 felt so unstable. The SV handles WAY better. I think these 650cc bikes are perfect for the streets.

I just sold my xsr700 and have a deposit on the new 900. I heard the lift control is really good. All the new tech, new chassis, motor, and the longer swing arm it has compared to an mto9 should make it decently stable.

@motomasterx5824 Жыл бұрын
I just test rode an XSR900 which has the same engine as the MT09 and came to the same conclusion. It’s too wheelie happy in lower gears and the wind is too crazy at high speeds. Also I don’t really have any intention of being the highway bandit I used to be. Really want to try one of these out
@TheCoolestCourier
@TheCoolestCourier Жыл бұрын
Yeah for most situations the 650 class is where it's at for the street. I'm really enjoying the new xsr 900 but honestly I think a sweet spot may be in between those two like a Aprilia Tuono 660 which has the torque of an sv650 but it makes 100 horsepower.

Hadn’t ridden since I sold my 77 GS750 in 1990. Was flirting with the idea of something European when I KZbind onto the XSR700. Bought a new leftover’19 in June of’20, has 18k miles on it now and if something happened to it tomorrow I’d buy another without shopping. Now that Honda and Suzuki have entered the mid weight 270* parallel twin game with their heavier more complicated versions we can refer to the imitation is the sincerest formula of flattery cliche. The motorcycle everyone should buy but no one does. Kudos Yamaha

i get people putting those mirrors on that look cool. But isnt the normal stock mirrors better to see with? Because looking at mirrors that are high up your essentially able to see in front of you better then looking down at the road and your eyes are MORE off of looking at whats in front of you. I know both your looking away from whats in front of you. But to me it seems re-adjust is less time with the higher mirrors. So for me the cool factor has to take a backseat to the safer factor.

If you saw my newest video I just bought the new 2022 xsr900. With the new chassis and electronics for this year especially wheelie control, I am absolutely loving it. It is insanely fun but I do agree that it is almost too much for the street. I could go Full Throttle much more often with my 700 but I do like how it's effortless to just bang through the quick shifter half throttle and you're still quicker than every car around you. It's pretty hilarious. I honestly think a really good sweet spot would be in between these two bikes which would be the Aprilia Tuono 660 with 100 horsepower. Thanks! Yeah 100% you get used to it. I'm decently strong so if it's abnormally windy I'll just squeeze my thighs a little bit on the tank. It's my favorite category by a long shot mainly because I can't do clip-ons, that body position bothers me since the only thing I rode before this was dirt bikes which is completely upright. Also I like feeling the wind, lets me know what speed I'm going and it makes it a little more visceral of an experience. And for the most part naked bikes focus on usable torque quite a bit and have shorter gearing than sport bikes which I find enjoyable.

No problem. After my XSR 900 I really almost went back to a CP2 bike but I went with the CF Moto 450 since they were doing 1% interest and also it's small enough to take on cart tracks. Definitely miss my 700 though

I did a 200 mile round trip on mine a little while ago, both seat comfortable and at the speed limits I found the wind not a problem, it would get a bit windy at 100mph plus, it does, I imagine, I can only imagine this of course as speed limit is 70mph in the UK. :)

Hi Jimmy, do yourself a favour, skip all the bolt on goodies an spend your money on a suspension upgrade, Ohlins or K-Tech. cartridge forks an rear shock to match, you will defenatly not regret it, an will transform your bike to a whole new level. Keep it shiny side son.

Thanks for the advice. But honestly I really enjoy the bike's handling as is. This will always be my casual bike that goes kind of fast and handles decently well but not impressive. One day I want to ride supermotos on a go-kart tracks. Whatever bike I get for that will be my good handling bike. I'm waiting for them to come out with something in between a DRZ400 and a KTM 690. I absolutely love the KTM 450 Supermoto. That thing makes as much power as this XSR. But it's not street legal

As far as larger capacity naked bikes go, I'm pretty sure the new Ducati monster with its low seat option offers the lowest seat height at 29 inches. Inches. Everything else is 31 and above. Or if your mega short I always recommend a rebel 500 or 1100 since it's 26 in

That's interesting. A lot of people don't like the long headlight. I love how big it is. I think it gives a good proportion to the bike. And the stock rear end was not very good-looking trust me. This tail tidy kit is the way to go.
