By far my favorite arrangement of this haunting carol. Ola’s playfulness with the layered rhythms is genius. Bravo to the performers for executing this piece so effortlessly!

These carols fill my soul with hope, and pure love.

This one isn't meant to fill you with hope... Sorrow would be more appropriate.

I am glad you draw hope from it. But it is a lament for all the children slaughtered by edict of Herod in the time of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. Perhaps, we should lament those children in our own time who are slaughtered by whatever means.

Wow! The video has ended a minute ago yet the spirit of the tune is still in my room. I am still "listening"!

I discovered Ola Gjeilo and his wonderful arrangements about 1-1/2 years ago when the Plano Civic Chorus had a concert featuring his works, with Gjeilo as the guest artist. I highly recommend his original works, as well.

This is actually very very good. My compliments to the singers, I especialy loved the part at 1:34 where the bass singers join. and ofcourse the little solo of the soprano singer at 3:30 .

Superbly done! Nearly flawless and such a smooth sound. The blending of the voices was spot on and I hardly heard a breath! Plus, some of the longer chords we so rich and 'crunchy'! As you and I well know, this takes hours of practice to get this good. Such a nice acapella sound. I'm 60 years old and have performed choral music since high school and have also done several of Ola Gjeilo's arrangement recently and your group certainly does justice to his music. Loved the uniformity of what people were doing with their arms. The uniform appearance of all singers adds to the uniform sound of the group. My only musical critique would be of the soprano solo right around 2:38, where she makes a bit of a break in her voice. She starts a line at 2;32 that if she could do on one breath to about 2:48 as one long passage, it would help carry the sound forward and continuously until a natural breathing spot at 2:48. Not a big deal but my ear caught it! Other than that, just a wonderful arrangement that was very well done!

lovely rendition but found the sopranos a little distracting from what the tenors were singing at the start of the second verse

The recording is sublime. I know it's picky and all, but REALLY on the choice of the short skirt? Sorry, but it is distracting to the performance. Put them gals in slacks!

oh don't be silly. I hadn't even noticed until you mentioned it. If you find short skirts that distracting you are less mature than me as a 23 year old

Since music is the main focus then I suggest focusing mainly on the music and using your ears to hear it since it is the music that is your main focus rather than your eyes that will focus on the miniskirt (if you allow them to do so, that is).
