Man, I am so glad you are uploading higher quality digital footage of your content and better lighting of your work area. It really makes a world of difference when we can see with great detail what you're doing, especially when you're working underneath the car. You are a great talent and this channel is too good for anything less!

Keep plugging on. Go get a fitted wire set and you should be good. 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2 - once you have done enough Chevy V8's you never forget. It's nice to see a youngster who isn't afraid of a quadrajet. I 'm in my late 60's. My first car was a '57 Bell air with a hipo 283 and fenderwell headers. I also had a yellow LT-4. DO NOT sell your cars. I miss both of mine plus my V8 Vega that I also sold. I enjoy watching your adventures. It reminds me of my youth.

Ben, for doing those engines, I would strongly recommend getting you an A-frame, once I got myself one for my shop back in the day it forever changed my life for the better. Especially if you get an electric hoist!
@kurtstruve10 ай бұрын
Maybe you should have an engine removal check list or something. It seems like you are often trying to remember all the things you need to disconnect. I absolutely love your videos and look forward to every new one!!!

Love the show. You should get one of those engine removal levellers for taking engines out. Hate to see the hook slip on the chain and damage the hood or shroud.

Got my project 75 running well on Wednesday after work finally! Owned by teenager and non mechanics … so far, Running etc. issues: 1. Starter not shimmed (grinding noises) wires loose, rear bracket not connected. Loose ground wire at frame and transmission. 2. Most valves too tight, one valve too loose with unconnected rocker arm and bent pushrod 3. One valve cover on backward with holes worn in it from rocker arms. 4. Missing and loose bolts on intake and exhaust manifolds 5. Distributor loose with chrome Chinese clamp that wouldn’t hold. Wires all one connection off. Loose ground wire inside the distributor. 6. Exhaust leak: Missing manifold to collector gaskets and a spacer. 7. Missing 2” exhaust clamps to brackets (under car) 8. Carb - vacuum leaks. Brake booster line not tight. Jet screws at 3 and 5. Choke set too tight and wouldn’t open. Multiple vacuum line and sources off or missing. Missing a manifold vacuum source port. 9. Spark plugs - all loose and 2 closed gaps (probably dropped), with all incorrectly gapped. 10. 3.5-4 quarts low on transmission oil. 11. Brake master cylinder low - no fluid in rear compartment, 1/4 in front. 12. Left door panel loose. Missing clip from interior door handle. 13. Right door panel loose. Stripped regulator so glass wouldn’t go up. 14. Center console loose and not bolted down correctly. 15. Heater controls did not work. 16. Back glass not installed. A few missing components to source. 17. Missing some interior trim 18. Steering wheel tilt is loose (bolts need tightened) 19. Seats in bad shape (sourced some others and will install) 20. Wipers not working (noted missing fuse but haven’t investigated) 21. Fan blade had only 3 bolts and weren’t long enough either.

Yes some left the bolt in that holds the rod up then try tried to start the motor whitch bent the rod and bent the cam witch cause the motor to have low compression. Ask me how I know.
@lukewalker105111 ай бұрын
Quite right, compression is the telltale. If all over the map, can't tune it out. Well done. Begs the question when you take one good engine out of another Corvette, are you going to save the chassis from the donor car? All the best in the New Year. Most importantly, stay safe as you do God's work of resurrecting old Corvettes. This was my era...a simpler time working on relatively simple cars.

That music may have been playing while they assembled that car. Nice pick Very period.
I dint know you could take the engine out with the hood still installed that makes me want a C3 even more
@Novaman6611 ай бұрын
Somebody replacing fuel pump,left the bolt that you put in to hold pump rod up and tried to start, or put long bolt in too far and bent rod!

Totally intrigued by your knowledge and love for corvettes. How did you get to your level of expertise and how did your garage get to that level?
@MegaKencam10 ай бұрын
I thought center bolt valve covers meant vortec heads but I wouldn't think that old intake would work with vortec heads.

I think there are enough numbers matching cars out there that we can you know swap a few around

There is a weird popping in the music. Sounds like a sync issue. I had to mute it.
@johnrussell386910 ай бұрын
Hey Mr. Ben can you just swap a 3:73 from 2:78 into 82 crossfire says they had to change speedo gear,are all 68 to 82 rear diff interchangeable or only certain ones...do you see this as a huge gain,also says crossfire leaks at intake to head and under throttle body?
@GaryMathews-qk8de11 ай бұрын
have you ever swapped a 79 and older rear diff in to a 80-82 vette ,to allow for a more poweful engine ?
@that_thing_I_do11 ай бұрын
I prefer the 79 body slightly better because it doesn't have the sugar scoop back window.

@cp602711 ай бұрын
Music while pulling the engine was too loud. It needs to be more subtle. You don't want the viewer to have to adjust volume up and down between music cuts and your talking. Love your channel and your information on Vettes.
@paulvarrieur97611 ай бұрын
Consider not using Timelapse with music. Rather hear you narrate certain portions of the engine installation and edit out some of the process.

Why would anyone want to dave a late seventies early 80s anything. Poor build quality. Cheap materials. No horsepower. 190 or so to a little over 200hp. My 4 cylinder has 188 hp.
