As an FYI, for a backing on my embroidery I use the USED fabric softener sheets. The used fabric sheets hold really well and then I just cut around the stitches carefully leaving the sheet under the letters. It helps stabilize the embroidered area too when washing or through use. BTW, it doesn't add bulk because the sheets are so thin. The fragrance of the sheet isn't usually very strong after being used in the dryer. If there is a residual fragrance, it dissipates after a while. Just my two cents 🙂

Thank you for that tip! That is really cool and I will have to give that a try. :) I never thought of using dryer sheets. :)

Great video, thank you from me here in the uk. I have a brother NV 1800Q with a good library of letters, fonts, numbers and decorative stitches and your video gave me some good advice on set up, size and design of a label 😊

I have the same machine as you, so I feel pretty confident that I can actually do this!

I love this idea! Now I just need to get a machine that will do it! I have a Babylock Rachael. I wish I looked around more when I got mine. Even though it's a great machine, I should have done an embroidery/sewing machine! Great video as always!

Melinda- I can totally relate. I ended up have 2 different machines as well. I have one for sewing/quilting and then an embroidery/sewing machine. I used my regular sewing machine for this tutorial.

@@TheCraftyAuthor someday I will get an embroidery machine. I have really wanted one forever! And a small long arm since I do all of my quilting on the baby lock I have ❤

Do I need to use embroidery stabilizer or could I use parchment paper by chance?
@TheCraftyAuthor Жыл бұрын
I haven’t used parchment paper for embroidery, so I don’t know how that would work. I prefer stabilizer and feel it holds the lettering together.

How do you add the Thread Spool? I have the Janome MC 9450QCP but I cant find this anywhere. Thanks
@TheCraftyAuthor4 жыл бұрын
Graciela- I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking about the additional thread stand that I have? I had to order that separately and then install it on the back. This is where I purchased mine from: www.sewvacdirect.com/janome-2-spool-thread-stand-fits-9mm-machines/ You will have to follow the instructions on how to add that. Kim at Chatterbox Quilts, here on KZbin has a video on how to install it. I hope I answered your question. Thank you 😊

Great tutorial but how do you sew so straight please? I never seem to get my lines straight 😀
@TheCraftyAuthor4 жыл бұрын
Jackie- Thank you! Well...honestly, it has taken me a long time to learn how to sew straight. However, there are some sewing machines that come with a little clear bar that you can attach and it will help you to align your fabric so that you can sew perfectly straight. The other thing you can do, if you don't have one of those little gadgets is, to put down a piece of painters tape or masking tape and use that as a guide to help you sew straight. I hope that helps! 😊 Happy Quilting!

Don’t you worry that the stitching will come undone when you cut in between the letters and words? Especially after repeated washing… I never cut mine because of this thought.
@TheCraftyAuthor2 жыл бұрын
I can understand your hesitation. I don't worry about cutting the jump stitches. I've done this to all of my labels and they are still legible after 15 years of washing. 😊

Where do you purchase your large spools of thread?
@TheCraftyAuthor4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ruth- I normally purchase my large spools of thread from my local quilt store or from Missouri Star Quilt Company. There are 3 brands of thread that I like to use for quilting and they Mettler, Gutterman and KingTut by Superior Threads. You can purchase all 3 online from online shops.
