When you win shirts in Japan are they all a size large or are you allowed to swap out for another size? Just in my experience the sizing in Japan is all very small, and not even just downsized from US sizes but often shorter and smaller neck sizes as well. Just wondering what the process is for shirts sizes in UFO machines if they are a standard or swappable.

It also depends on which round 1 you go to. Out of the four that are somewhat close to me, I only go to a specific one to play claw machines because the other ones are higher traffic arcades and they make the claws too weak to actually win anything.

Round 1 (and UFO catchers in general) can be really tough! Like Name said, each location will vary too - some locations have just been absolutely awful overall :( Hopefully you have better luck next time!
