Love, love, love your channel. I love how you make do - no ruler, use a paddle pop stick. Never measuring. Just great creativity. You are a wonderful inspiration.

I am new to your channel but I am hooked and I love it. Thank you for teaching me how to sketch. I have never maintained a sketchbook because I wanted everything in it to be perfect. Know I like the passion of the raw look with vintage ink and those types of things. I have always appreciated the beauty of God’s glory in his flowers, but through you I am learning their names and how to sketch them. I enjoyed sketching the herbs too. I am thinking of making my best friend a journal for her 2024 birthday witch sketches and ephemera. Ty

Drawing pinecones is so much fun! I drew some years ago. There are several different varieties around my area. I'll have to go gathering some to draw.🌲

The medical paper tape you used is not only strong but if you wet a cotton ball and slightly moisten the tape it bonds much more tightly!

What I love about your channel is the range of techniques you use. It gives me ideas for things I would never have thought of. I’m pretty lousy at painting but I can create similar backgrounds to yours and can produce reasonable sketches on top. I love the abstract ones you created with things lying on your desk…I’m so proud of my version! After using micropore on surgical wounds for years, I’m intrigued by the way you are using it.

I enjoyed your video i watched it three times i think your talking about the seed scale it protects the seed inside sometimes it takes two to three years for strobilus/ female cone to drop i think cones are so interesting and the cone is affected by humidity to protect the seed the female strobilus will close when it senses the water vapor in the air to protect the seed..i really enjoy your videos they are adaptable and i like to learn about what i draw im gonna watch your mushroom video and look up information on mushrooms..had fun..mikelle art mom👩‍🎨🎨✍🇨🇦🇺🇸💛hope i didn't overload your brain i just like to learn things..

Thanks for this - my cones didn't end up quite like yours but are recognisable as pine cones of some sort! Your subscribers are probably going up as all of us 'regular followers' are recommending your channel to our friends - I know I am! Interesting use of Micropore tape too! I must raid the first-aid box and try it out.

The paper is probably clogging the pen as it might be clay coated paper which is commonly used for printing as it takes the ink well without bleeding. You could use a fountain or dip or glass pen and it would most likely stop the clogging. Also if it is this type of paper you can scratch off areas for highlights or corrections with a clay tool or craft knife. With the right tools its very versatile for ink drawings and gives a great finish.

Hi Michele, I’ve heard those petal things are called scales. They open and close to release or protect the seeds. Love your video. Also I understand the larger cones like you have are females. The males are small and we hardly ever see them. However they are the ones that release the pollen that floats around and finds the female. LOL

New subscriber here. I love, love, love your quickie sketches. I have some old address printer labels that are smaller in size but they work for me. I’m practicing botanicals mostly herbs, and also some spring bulbs. I’ve added color with some duel ended markers. I mostly use the brush end but just a little color clarifies my sketches. Thank you for your awesome tutorials.

Oh no! Are you drawing the same subject or trying a little bit of everything. Some times you have to find things that you find most easy to draw. For example I draw lots of botanicals but struggle drawing people. So I have to keep practicing people. And some people take a little longer to train there hands capture what they see. Try not to be discouraged keep carrying on and you should see some improvement. 😊

@@thecreativecove6898 I'm trying the nature theme. I do OK with mushrooms and kinda ok with grasses but that's about it. I'm working on making them look more 3 dimensional. 😏

The spread out pine cones have dropped their seeds ….when they are tight against one another they haven’t opened yet to drop seeds .. it is true the cone is the seeding flower just as everything has a flower that makes a seed after it is done :). Any would love to do all your drawing ideas !

Great video as always. I have been trying two new pigment / waterproof ink pens that were recommended by urban sketcher kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYeyh6SFobN2nq8 both pens are very easy to work with .Uniball Air and Signo Gelstick handle textured surfaces much better than my unipin fineliners (similar to the pens you use) They are very reasonably priced also and the Air comes in to nib sizes.

It's interesting that you said it was the paper's fault for your Micron pens drying out. I've actually tossed most of my Microns, believing they dry out way too fast! Mystery Solved, and now I won't SMH when someone speaks highly of Microns. 😅
