His constant dedication to 'the hood' bugged me from the day Carl returned! He even almost took a hit of crack before our hero stepped in and stopped him! It's always bugged me how CJ ends up apologizing to Sweet at the end, Sweet is stuck in his world while Carl has accomplished the greatest goal there entire family could ever imagine, with more than enough help from Kendall and Ceasar along the way! By far the greatest GTA story ever!!!

Sweet's a lousy leader and a pain-in-the-azz to his brother. CJ has the more realistic view, that the world is much bigger than the hood and you have to get a piece of it. CJ tries to make a better life for himself and his family, but Sweet wants to stay in that "hood" mindset.

I saw a video where a psychologist analyzed Sweet's behavior and summed it up that he has a condition called slave mentality. It's lowkey the best written character in GTA San Andreas

I wouldn’t say that but he’s more territorial like he thinks just because he, and possibly even his mother too, grew up in Grove street he needs to die there as well. He can’t see the Grove for what it is which is basically a shit hole and he despises CJ for being able to give up on it so easily. TheProfessionals vid explains it better but it’s a common mentality among small town people

Sweet is a great character and all. He felt Carl betrayed him and the gang and his family by leaving them. Sweet was so drained by the “loss” of his two brothers that he became despondent in his quest to protect the hood. After losing everything it made him more despondent. Sweet’s core power is in his family, and without it he feels as if he is nothing. When Carl proved himself again, he loyally protected him. He was angry with him because Carl thought only of himself when he originally left Los Santos, leaving him alone to care for his family. He felt that Carl has abandoned his duty. What Carl did for his family and gang is commendable but Sweet looked out for their family for years before Carl’s return and had bad situations even without him around. He felt that Carl was being selfish. Carl himself admits he was a buster when his family needed him most during “End of the Line”, showing that while Sweet was being argumentative towards him, he was right to an extent. Carl was talking about what he did for the family while Sweet was imprisoned while taking no consideration for what Sweet has done for the family while Carl was thinking about his own problems away from home, a home that began slowly to crumble. Sweet, despite his misgivings, clearly loves Carl very much, and was very saddened by his actions. Hell, I won’t be surprised if Sweet’s decision to go after Tenpenny alone was because he thought that CJ was killed in the blast. When Carl returned to pick him up at the police station, he felt that CJ was going to abandon the hood again, despite all they have done for it and thought he didn’t realise what their fight was about. Even though CJ was right to desire a better life for his family, to an extent CJ had most of the success while their home crumbled. This is why Sweet thought CJ was talking like Smoke, because he thought he valued money and success more than their principles. Sweet believes that values and where you come from, where the world has originally put you, is the most real thing there is.

I like to think that CJ is still alive living in his mansion with all his money but Sweet died due to him refusing to leave the hood and he ends up getting killed in a drive by just like how his mom died. Not saying they’re connected either or anything but in my head it’s also the reason why the Ballas took over Grove street in gta 5 (although they’re confirmed to be separate universes)

So much hate on sweet but he dont get enough credit as a character for being double crossed by almost everyone around him and, despite resorting to smoking later in the game, his stance on keeping drugs out the hood ultimately almost got him killed. Thats a lot more integrity than most character in the game, CJ included.
