What a crazy sight. Something I may never see. I dream about it though. I have been lucky enough to find a massive 4-5 lb Lake Superior agate. It's a little bigger than a soft ball. That is my once in a life time. Always love watching the places you go and things you find. Your all like kids in a candy store.

It's a very unusual shape for brookites... I have always seen them form thin plates, not thick bi-pyramids like that. Are you sure it's not anatase instead ? Same chemical composition, but the shape is exactly like the ones you found. It's rarer that brookite and the only difference is that it crystalises at higher temperatures. I have found both minerals in the alps in nice quantities so that's why I have some doubts.

As someone just learning about this cool stuff, and trying to teach my daughter, how do you find these ? and is there any like this ever in Ontario Canada? I have so many questions about this stuff
@TheCrystalCollector17 сағат бұрын
Every location around the world has a different type of minerals and crystals available. I’ve done a few videos in Canada, you may want to check them out, there’s a lot of places to go dig for Crystals there!
@thacorruptor447216 сағат бұрын
@@TheCrystalCollector Ive watched the videos in Canada already, kinda binged most of them one day lol. How do you find out about them before hand to go? How much do they cost? I know a few places here in Ontario from your previous vids but even in the US close to the border would be worth a drive. Just have to find out how to know about these cool events with enough notice
@lundysden678115 сағат бұрын
@@thacorruptor4472 hi there, geologist from NY here. To be honest it may be better to buy a few Roadside Geology books and mineral collecting books and simply go exploring with your daughter! She would love it. You may not find giant crystals but even a few small ones would be awesome. There are great sites in northern NY and Herkimer diamond mines around Herkimer NY. Maine also has a ton of great sites.
@CricketsBay10 сағат бұрын
I Google phrases like "public dig crystals Arkansas" and "public dig Trilobites Wyoming/Utah" to find pay-to-dig sites in the U.S. Also, local, county, and state rockhounding groups are great resources.
@lundysden67817 сағат бұрын
@ most sites are not public dig sites. You need to find the location and knock on a door and ask permission. Usually they say yes to looking around.
