Daaaaamn. Yes. Going back to my R/C airplane building my uncle/mentor always said that a good looking airplane always flies better. It drilled into my brain that attention to detail was of utmost importance. Now I’m a few decades older and a few hobbies along, it still holds true. Planning is key for sure. Visualize, think, adapt. Wash, rinse, repeat. You are the man, Kevin. I wish I could have you work your magic on my ‘84 C-10.

My suggestion as an electronics dude is to tie all your grounds directly to the frame, or to your roll cage. Not only will it save some wire, it will also save weight, and make the whole thing much easier to debug. If you have a bad ground, you only need to trace it back to the cage or frame, instead of having to mess with ground wires embedded in harnesses. You are also eliminating any chance of ground bounce or ground loop this way. Basically whenever there's a ground anywhere in your schematic, don't route it through to the next connector, just connect it to the nearest cage or frame connection point. I don't know why no one does this in race cars...

Additional terminals/ground connections allow too many places for wire to get abraded, break, get pulled, have welding slag hit them or connection terminal failure. I agree with you, as I have been doing vehicle sound, video and security for many years, but they want to minimize connection points to make problems easier to trace.

Man.. this is absolute heaven for my brain. After spending years in the enterprise data center low voltage world, If I could even remotely figure out how to make a decent living doing low voltage in this type of setting; I'd be in heaven! The level of meticulous detail, the thought put into, the testing, the failure and re testing all just speak to me. I truly appreciate what you're doing Kevin. It's not easy and to many it's a nightmare. It obviously means a lot to you and the results show it. Keep up the great work!

one of my favorite things to do on my rig is wiring lol yes ik it sounds crazy lol. You should add a USB C hub to the dash Garrett could have multiple batteries or phones charging at the same time maybe a ram ball mount that he could put an iPad mini on the dash to monitor the go pros and play music.

Cleetus is going to have to install a server rack in "The Unit" for crunching all the data coming out of this car. Kevin's knowledge of what to do with the data is what will make this car run as fast as possible. Cleet will just have to mash the loud pedal and hold on.

Having wired up many large Canon Multi Pin plugs during my Electronics career, like you said the importance of having the best quality Crimp Tools cannot be understated. Cleeter definitely picked the right guy for the job.. the detail on the wiring and every sensor going in is insane.. should be able to tune this car perfectly to its surroundings and if even the slightest problems arise should be able to catch them before they become big issues.. you and your team are really killing it with this build 👏 🙌 👌

I have done some large alarm systems 20years ago and I remember doing alarms with 70 wires and it’s all about how well you prep the system. Kevin you are a master of covering everything and explaining it. Love the videos. Keep it up 👍💪

As a retired electrical engineer, this is all very familiar to me. I did motion controls before moving over to systems and software.
