It’s easier to date someone when you’ve been friends beforehand so you know what they’re like. Than to pick a random guy and he turns out to have bad intentions or something. Or he might secretely already have a gf. And as girls we have a constant fear of getting taken advantage of so dating someone you already know well seems safer. Or I guess that’s just how I think about it.

I’d have no problem approaching men I find attractive IF I knew they weren’t sexist and didn’t look down on women , knew they weren’t the type to try pressure women into sexual stuff and just overall knew what their morals were like. Literally the only thing that stops me from asking random men out. I’m not afraid of rejection - you’re privileged if that’s all you have to worry about. I’m afraid of being abused or killed or wasting my precious time, money and energy on someone who thinks I’m inferior and not finding out they think like that until later.
