@@possiblymaybe6711 Who can argue with that? After all, it would be unfair of me to suggest people all have agency & are responsible for themselves. @possiblymaybe67115 жыл бұрын
John Harrison how am I ALONE going to improve our air???? How am I ALONE going to improve wage theft by corporatists and insurmountable student loan debt for millions of other students ? yeah I work hard I actually like my life a lot nowadays because I’ve taken a lot more initiative in my adulthood to get me to where I am I understand my potential to improve my life, but that’s not all I’m concerned about and I know it could be better if someone were to actually give a shit. I want there to be a world to live in that will survive another 50 years I can’t do that alone. The congress members we’ve been electing have all been corporate pawns with empty promises and I get that you’re disillusioned it makes total sense actually for you to feel this way and that’s what they want. Study read investigate who you vote for always and if you do that and everyone else in this country did that maybe we’d actually have a functional Congress. Until then telling people to give up and just do you isn’t going to get anyone anywhere
@Mr._Anderpson5 жыл бұрын
@@possiblymaybe6711 How do you alone improve the air? Replace your lawn (if you have one) with a varied landscape of trees & plants which support life. Don't buy bananas or avocados or kiwis, the sorts of things which have to travel hundreds to thousands of miles for you to eat when you could just have a locally-grown handful of blueberries. Stop using AC, since most of the power in the electic grid still comes from fossil fuels. Grow your own food, buy from local farms, & compost your garbage instead of sending it to a landfill. When organic materials break down in the absence of oxygen, methane is a byproduct. Stop driving more than is necessary & carpool as much as possible. This also means eliminating the carbon footprint of most vacations. (Sorry, you actually asked a question I can begin to answer, as my academic focus & career are based in environmental remediation.) Yes, people will see these options & decide they simply cannot make those sacrifices. Sadly, many of those same people will expect government agencies to make sweeping changes when they aren't willing to do the same. You improve the wage theft problem by being your own boss, or not supporting corporations whose policies you can't just accept. Chances are, if you're using a smartphone (or anything from Nike), you're already giving your silent assent to child labor or the unthinkable conditions endured by those mining rare earth metals. Politicians know they can get away with hypocrisy because they know most people are the same sort of hypocrite. It isn't my problem to worry about the average wage in the big city, because the average worker/voter in the big city doesn't give a person like me, in Corn Fields, USA a second thought. Student loan debt is likewise an individual responsibility. We shouldn't have to subsidize the poor decision-making abilities of those who decided to major in art history or gender studies. They weren't forced to take a loan. They made a choice & must live with the consequences. Tell ya what. Lose all the sleep you like freaking out if the world will be here in 50 years. Unless you speak fluent Mandarin, Swahili, & Hindi, you could reach every other English speaker & still not change the trajectory of human population growth & consumption of resources. Should you manage to pull off this transformative coup of Congress, get back in touch with me. Very few people enter Congress without becoming part of the corrupt system. Even the much-vaunted AOC dropped her $15 minimum wage & Green New Deal rhetoric in favor of asking for a pay increase. The old saying goes that politicians are like sperm. One in a million turn out to be an actual human being.

At 14:57 she makes subtle correction. She started by saying the first "slaves" were brought over but then corrected and said "enslaved" people. Referring to people as slaves reduces them to that lowly position and sounds as if they inherently are that. Saying Europeans "brought slaves over" sounds commodified, as if they were picking up something from Walmart. Saying "enslaved" denotes a position that was forced onto people but reminds you that the 'enslaved' are human first.

A very astute observation. Thanks. I hope the black community picks up on this and alters the way they discuss it themselves. Many seem to use "slave" and "slavery" in ways more designed to elicit ongoing hate for whites instead of love for themselves. Some of that is intentional. Some is just poor communication. I do not agree with her about "reparations" though. The time for that was over 150 years ago. No one alive was a slave, or a slaveowner. We need to fix what and where we are *now* and I don't believe payouts will remedy a damned thing. Trump has shown us just how racist we still are. Reparations would just further exacerbate that divide, in all sorts of ways I shouldn't need to go into here... I know my (white) ancestry back to 1632 here in America. Not a single slave was ever owned by any of my ancestors. The idea of reparations in a modern sense means the guilty have to compensate their victims. And let's not forget that most slaves were rounded up by fellow Africans and sold to the ships that came by to fill up. Should blacks pay themselves reparations? Should I? That's how taxes would work here. Again, it's a very flawed concept at the very least...

Agreed. I’m also someone who’s watching this whole process from outside of the ‘bubble’ and I believe that Williamson is one of the best candidates. Yang and Bernie also look good as does Warren, while Biden and Harris are a bit fishy but then again I did some research on both and they also have immoral parts on themselves. It would be great to see Williamson become the first female president in the USA. Warren does seem astute, stern yet somewhat rigid whereas Williamson seems to have this kind of empathetic aura which people want to reach out to out of need as well. However, I would like to reiterate that perhaps Williamson would need a good right arm that could help them be though when needed to as in to not feel swayed sometimes by emotions too easily as to deal with internal or external problems she might appear to be a bit too gentle but I don’t know. It’s just the impression I’ve gotten so far, because then again we are fed by the media more often than not. We have to keep following and see what will come out of all of this... We cannot jump to conclusions too soon.

I love Trevor ‘s reactions to her smart answers 🙊🙈. She cleaned her name! Also kudos to Trevor, he is the best interviewer in the late night scene for sure!

Love this interview Marianne, it shows the real you. Somehow you need to renew the light you had back then. I know it must be so frustrating for you seeing what is going on now, but we need that light to shine for you to make the progress we all want. So glad has this is being aired now. It shows the real you and the leadership you aspire to and deserve. All the best to you.

Well to be fair, the average American is woefully undereducated on almost everything
@bonnieikamas12015 жыл бұрын
Bballer 23 , the conditions of being undereducated are starting in Kindergarten! When I retired from teaching Kindergarten, I had 28 students, all day long with no aide! One day a week, I didn’t even have a “prep time”...this situation is growing a group of Americans who cannot get a good start! Kindergarteners NEED a lot of one-on-one; especially if they’ve never experienced such attention prior to attending school. This situation is awful for students and impossible for their teachers. “Developmentally Appropriate Practices” would dictate a MUCH smaller student to teacher ratio.😢
@dominiccarrano95135 жыл бұрын
@@bonnieikamas1201 exactly right. The school system is so broken right now its ridiculous. It more about indoctrinating kids into far-left ideology and moving cattle through than actually teaching. There are teachers out there who actually try to do good, but they get broken down from all the stress. I know because my grandmother was a teacher for 40 years and she has seen these changes take place

Wow. I didn’t expect that. I was looking forward to a clever Trevor Noah exposé with a solid laugh but she held her own and actually,for me, became a real candidate.

Marianne proved here her wisdom, intelligence, dignity and , most importantly, that she has REAL solutions to the issues that face America and the world today... With President like her, we can LITERALLY change the whole world for the better, reinstate moral and ethical values... going deeper, to the CORE of all matters will heal America! Thank You, Trevor, for inviting Marianne Williamson to your show!

Marianne is a spark of light that could turn our country around. People call her names because she mirrors the higher aspect of themselves that they have abandon. People make fun of what they don't understand. But, she is for REAL. I have donated to her campaign and I'm asking all of you to donate as well. May we all rise to the occasion. Together, we will triumph. Much love!

For awhile, I though they weren't gonna upload it, in an attempt to censor her. I'm glad he did though. She's the best presidential candidate we've seen in decades. Go to marianne2020.com and donate $1 to her campaign!
