When exactly did Hitler, Gandhi and Stalin take this test?
@billschneider54544 жыл бұрын
Whenever Friedman did too
@stgr66694 жыл бұрын
I think it's possible to guess their answers on most questions. But the questions are way too tame, so Hitler and Stalin land in the same range as a normal person with authoritarian left or right views. For example, they'd agree to "The death penalty should be an option for the most serious crimes", but consider a lot of political actions "most serious crimes, even worse than murder". Stalin wouldn't just put some restrictions on multi-national corporations, but seize and nationalize all businesses, big or small. Hitler might say "Different sorts of people should indeed keep to their own kind, but those different from us do not have rights." So both axes have to be much longer to find a proper place for these monsters (or for people who agree with their views).

Ben was a little further right, but both Ben and Klaven were just under the line into the libertarian axis. Granted individual answers may differ, but seems to me they are pretty similar politically. I think maybe you are confusing personal believe about self and belief about what should be enforced by government. Knowles was a lot higher on the authoritarian axis and Walsh doesn't count because he didn't take the test seriously.

@@timtodd3312 Yeah, a lot of things listed on the social axis of the square really don't imply that the government should be involved. Some of them just don't make any sense at all, like an eye for an eye or the enemy of my enemy is my friend being authoritarian statements. They don't have anything to do with authoritarianism. A libertarian can hold both of them. And the idea that military action can be justified in defiance of international law is a smaller group defying a higher one, so it's kind of the opposite of authoritarian (see the sokovia accords from Captain America Civil War as a media example of the principle). It's an okay descriptor in terms of left and right economics, but the authoritarian/libertarian axis is all out of wack.

However.... this Compass test WAS created by Leftist who want you to answer based on emotion (not logic) so that you will score as a Lefty and say "ooh, I guess I am a liberal after all, now let me vote for what the test told me I am". They think people are stupid and will vote against their morals just because a test told them it is official.

Bottled water was made for the lazy man. Don't wanna go a running stream, collect water, filter it, boil it, chill it, then drink it? Just pop to shop and get ALL of that done for you. The guy who decided to do that was quite frankly, a genius. If you don't want to buy bottled water, then... don't. You have a clean water system running through your house, take a bottle and fill it with your own water. It. Isn't. Hard. To. Stand. By. Your. Morals. And. Not. Be. An. Ass. Hat.
@CountArtha4 жыл бұрын
The premise of that question is so pretentious. Let's just think about some of the reasons why water became "a bottled, branded consumer product," and why that's a good thing. 1. PORTABILITY. You can ship thousands of liters of bottled water on pallets and rapidly distribute it to people in a disaster, instead of having to dig a well, build a pumping station, distillery, or sanitation plant which would take a LOT more effort and specialized knowledge. Time saved; resources saved; lives saved. 2. CONVENIENCE. If you're studying at the library or hustling through an airport and start to get dehydrated, instead of dropping everything to go searching for a public drinking fountain, you can just bring a water bottle with you and have it whenever you need it. 3. QUALITY CONTROL. If you buy commercial, "branded" bottled water, you can be reasonably confident it came from an actual bottling facility with competent management, or else it wouldn't be a brand you'd heard of. Would YOU want to buy a bottle of water with no label, not knowing where it came from? You can get water for free out of a puddle, but try drinking that every day and see what happens. It's not like evil corporations have been hypnotizing us with subliminal messages like the aliens in _They Live._ There's a perfectly rational, economically sound reason for bottled water to exist, and the free market delivered. As usual.

2:05 That's actually an interesting answer because it's kinda correct but also shows how wrong he is. "When people go to war, they find themselves right next to a guy from a totally different class." But I will say (and I think this is more accurate since, come on, we all know that the elites don't go to war themselves): "When people go to war, they find themselves opposed to a guy who is just like them but simply from another country." WW1 was the best example for how people who have alot in common and are facing basically the exact same struggles in their normal lives and have the same dreams and aspirations, are pushed to war against each other by nonsensical extreme nationalism. It showed us that basically all the soldiers from opposing countries were just the same average people and it showed us how pointless that war was. The average French soldier sitting in his trench was not much different from the average German sitting in his trench, the only thing dividing them was nationalism/their nation. That's why there are so many stories of enemies helping/saving each other during WW1. And that's also why, today, the average European people work together very well and why serious national hostility doesn't really exist in most of Europe anymore, because they learned that they are very similiar as average people and that being from a different country alone doesn't change that. In short: Their "class struggles" (if you want to call it that) are the same regardless of country.

I think the header of the test deserves some attention. None of the hosts payed attention to it, so I'll paste it here for your enjoyment : "Please note that this isn’t a survey, and these aren’t questions. They’re propositions. To question the logic of individual ones that irritate you is to miss the point. Some propositions are extreme, and some are moderate. That’s how we can show you whether you lean towards extremism or moderation on the Compass. Your responses should not be overthought. Some of them are intentionally vague. Their purpose is to trigger reactions in the mind, measuring feelings and prejudices rather than detailed opinions on policy." To *question the logic* of individual ones that irritate you is to *miss the point.* - Do not question the propositions guys. Questioning the questionnaire is out of the question! Your responses should not be overthought. - Define 'overthought' please. Some of them are intentionally vague. - Some of them are intentionally useless then? Who the fuck needs vague propositions! ***Their purpose is to trigger reactions in the mind, measuring feelings and prejudices rather than detailed opinions on policy.*** First of all, terrible syntax on that sentence, and also... Yeah... This is feelings and prejudices over detailed opinions on policy, so we know this is designed to serve the Left who feeds on feelings and prejudices. Great. Let's take the test now and have a laugh! Yeah turns out, according to this stupid test anyway, I'm about as Right Wing as Klavan, but slightly more libertarian on the Y axis, which sounds about right. So perhaps, in spite of its inherent flaws, the test ain't too bad in the end.

I love how Margaret Thatcher and Hitler are so close together on this chart.
@clivegoodman164 жыл бұрын
No they are not. They are in the same sector but Thatcher was to the right of Hitler but less authoritarian than him. According to this model, Hitler was NOT on the far right, he was very authoritarian and slightly more to the right of average this is because he believed in controlled economy which supported ordinary German Workers (but not Jews who were considered s*b h*m*n) and the same time transformed Germany from a Republic into a Dictatorship with him as the dictator. He also fought other countries to create an Empire which he hoped to last for a thousand years. Mrs Thatcher was a great believer in the free market (far more than Hitler) and transformed Nationalised industries into private companies (this made her to the right of Hitler). On the other hand she did not transform her country in a Dictatorship, nor did she attack other countries to form an Empire ( which makes her less authoritarian than Hitler). She did repell the invasion which Argentina had launched on the Falkland Islands, but then these had British inhabitants living there and had previously been ruled by Britain.
@westcoastflyers1444 жыл бұрын
Clive Goodman What you are saying is right, it’s just that I think they are too close.
@clivegoodman164 жыл бұрын
@Soren G. Unlike the Soviet Union, Hitler did allow for private enterprise, provided that the businessman was "Aryan". This was partly the reason for the dispute between Hitler and Ernst Röhm, who took the "Socialism" part of "National Socialism" more seriously than Hitler. Eventually Hitler crushed Ernst Röhm during the "Night of the Long Knives", and the Sturm Abteilung became a shadow of his former self whereas the SS, which was much more aristocratic in nature, became dominant. Certainly Hitler supported some public enterprise, but he also supported private enterprise provided the businessman was "Aryan". Thus he was to the right of Stalin who believed in a economy completely controlled by the government, and to the left of Thatcher who privatised public utilities such as gas, electricity and water.
@clivegoodman164 жыл бұрын
