What a remarkably high-end production. a truly professional and high production value creation. The big camera rigs, the multiple units, the massive numbers of extras, the special effects, all the animals that need trainers and supervisors, and not to mention the number of sets and massive set pieces and outdoor sets like the gladiator ring and that small village. Really a mammoth and enormous production. All the money and tech and crew in the world won't make a show or movie great though. It's really just the story and the way it's told. Look forward to seeing how ya'll put it all together!

Better that it's polished really well. So that takes time, after the raw ingredients are available for assembly. Don't want to just haphazardly slap it together and churn it out after all the effort to shoot it. It's in the refining stage, which is just as important.

Rome wasn't built in a day. You can't expect them to nail major tv or movie productions on their first few tries. The more they try, the better they will become, and perhaps in 10 - 20 years they will become a major force. It's going to take a lot of money and a lot of time and dedication to succeed. Their chances of success are higher in genres that Hollywood has completely abandoned and forgotten how to make. It means practically any adaptations of classic Western fantasy tales like LOTR or The Chronicles of Narnia, classic legends and mythologies like the Greek and Norse mythologies, films about historical periods in Europe and elsewhere, adaptations of classic British and European literature for kids and adults alike, in addition to faith-based films that Hollywood used to make frequently but has stopped doing so.

A production of this scale is unlikely to be financed by one company. This will almost certainly be an international co-production with (pre-)sales to international TV stations and other streaming services. In all likelihood, DW has sole streaming rights for the USA, but other countries will get it from other providers. There will probably be some variation in content for different territories too.
