Here's my problem with 'originalist' judges; 1) they studied Law, not History, or Psychology. They are only qualified to analyse the legal wording from the standpoint of current law, not to interpret for the time those words were written, and certainly not to get into the state of mind of those responsible for those words and why they chose those words specifically. 2) Trying to create the impression that the people responsible for the constitution had all the answers for all eternity available to them is pure fantasy. Even the best educated and most well read of people in the late 1700's would be nowhere near the standard of a decent high school education in the 2000's. They could never even have imagined that a personal protection rifle would ever be capable of firing between 400 & 800 rounds per minute. They could never even have imagined that each ordinary citizen would be able to instantly speak to hundreds of millions people around the world. If they could have, the right to keep and bear arms would have been worded very differently, as would the right to free speech. 3) Those responsible for writing constitution would absolutely and positively have participated in both "gay" or "pride" parades in their time. They would likely have dressed up in frilly silk & lace, worn wigs, leggings and scarves, & perhaps even a few plumed feathers. If you could pluck them from their 1790 parade and time-travel drop them into a 2024 Pride parade, they would not look out of place on a drag show float. And that is how different the world and especially words can be, 230 years apart.
