Really good interview - only exception I would take with it is that Rahm leaving doesn't hurt the PGA Tour. Of course it does. The guy gives full faith and credit for the ticket bought. In the past few years, you rarely a letdown in his game and I think people pay to see his effort. Other than that, I think there were numerous good points made in the interview.

This is the issue that American based analysis just can't wrap their heads around (and the axe that Norman has been grinding with the PGAT since the 90s). from my understanding LIV want two things. 1) A true WORLD tour, bringing the best players to destinations around the world to truly diversify the revenue base beyond North America. Adelaide is probably the most successful LIV event so far and it is because Australian fans are starved of the best of the best. PGAT's wrap around schedule means that people just do not come here to play anymore. Nicklaus called the Australian Open the fifth major back in the day, but now the world's elite would rather play in Tiger's no-cut tournament instead. 2) The path to sustainablity is through team golf. It ensures that every player is fighting for something which keeps every player in every round interesting and valuable to something. But crucially, having teams (franchises) that are limited and valuable means they will accumulate in value. This is true with all american sports teams, european football teams at the very top, and formula one teams. This is the 25-50 year play.

Rahm is not an American, so he was always going to be an outsider in the PGA, that's why it's "no big deal" from PGA fans that he has gone, to the rest of the world he is a legend and as golf consumers people will be watching him irrespective of where he plays, golf is not owned by the PGA, The players are the stars who we want to see, and make no mistake LIV will get bigger and bigger, especially with all the hate and disrespect it has been constantly getting from one corner, this is seen as bullying, and everyone hates a bully right. Sadly myopic and US centric from BC, LIV are going after world stars to grow the game outside of the US. Rahm moves the needle in Europe, Cam Smith and Leishman in Australasia and the troop of South Africans and South Americans too in their homelands. Great job. One thing the tour could do to reduce the driving length. Don't cut the fairways so tight they act like concrete. Tour average carry 284...rollout to 345. Most public courses, you carry 285 you get 295-300. Also, less spin coming into greens with longer cut fairways.....Dont need to grow rough, narrow fairways, move tee boxes.... grow out the fairways.... Ever notice after a rainstorm in a tournament, every player says it is playing a lot longer.... Yep....There is your answer...

Just listened to Rahm in an interview and when asked how long have discussions been going on with LIV, he said from the very beginning of LIV 🤔 I wonder why he came out with those loyalty statements to the PGA over last 2 years if he knew his agent was discussing his move to LIV. Weird, but doesn't matter anymore. He got a huge payday and I suspect he is banking on the PGA doing a deal with LIV, so he can still play any event he wants. LIV isn't my thing, I prefer the history and tradition of the PGA and DP Tour, but each to their own! Doesn't bother me either way. I do find it strange that many Americans are cheering on this hostile takeover of professional golf by Saudi Arabia though. If they are successful, be careful what you wish for guys! In the long-term, the Saudis will run it like a business that suits their needs and that could mean the bulk of tournaments being played in the middle east, the same way as their boxing, soccer and F1 takeover is heading towards.

I think it highlights that the perceived PGA assets (players) are not theirs and therefore the value of the PGA is not clear. The PIF can now buy the PGA tour for less money because Rahm is gone - so LIV pay Rahm $400M ISH and PIF buy PGA Tour rights for $xM ish less. LIV gets that, it will extracts the value as they have in football and others have in cricket, F1, american football etc. PGAT brought this on themselves. I probably went 20 years ignoring Brandel Chamblee based on something I read in a golf publication back then. But recently I read where he lives a very modest lifestyle with his wife compared to his wherewithal of millions. He lived in a condo in Florida for years that he bought for around $100k as I recall. He moved to Arizona in recent years and lives in a home that he bought for around $500k. He doesn’t own a vacation home to my knowledge. I began to reconsider him as someone whose values I can get behind. I started listening to him again, just int time for this LIV debacle. I believe him on this topic ahead of just about anyone. The fact that DP has lots of time for him matters to me. On a related subject; if the PGA Tour turns to private equity as a financial partner you can piss on the fire and call the dogs because it’s over.

Dan/Brandel, the Commissioner, Monaghan, screwed the players and took the high road. He is selfish and lost the respect of the Players....not a leader by any stretch. Other than the 2-3 players left on the Tour, the other players are like fish out of water trying to survive. Pathetic on the PGA taking care of their players. Look, money talks, the PGA hoarded the money and distributed between the management, Monaghan and company. When LIV came on board, they decided to find additional purse money ....disgusting. PGA, like it or not, your are now a feeder tour for the World Tour LIV and associates are developing...just like the Korn Ferry Tour. Only reason Tiger, Jordan and Rory are on board is because they always receive appearance fees, huge endorsement contracts and really do not need the money. Go tell someone who is 125th on the money list.

Rory is boring as batshit and Spieth may be interesting to the American market but outside of that he isn't. Time for big mouth Brandle to eat some humble pie and own up to talking rubbish for 2 years. He knows Rahm is the best on the planet and LIV have at least 5 of the top 10 golfers going around. They also have all the interesting characters. LIV is growing the game worldwide. All the PGA Tour wanted to do was steal every quality player in the world and make sure they never played outside the US. That's not growing the game. The PGA Tour got what they deserved by neglecting the world of golf. LIV just saw an opportunity in the market and acted upon it.
