Votto is one of the best ambassadors for the MLB. Great player, hard worker, funny, humble, doesn't get involved in off-field drama. Baseball is better with Joey Votto playing.

No wonder MLB players once voted him the friendliest first baseman. If anyone wants to read a great article on Joey’s quirks and personality, check out the piece The Athletic did on him a couple of months ago. He is consistently the best interview in baseball and definitely the most interesting. What an absolute legend.

.303 lifetime, by the way. Thanks for all the memories, Joey. I’ll never forget when your contract was announced, the day before Opening Day in 2011 I think. My father and I were there at Opening Day, we went to probably ten or fifteen of them. I knew then you’d be the right player, but what I didn’t know then and has since become painfully evident is that you are the right person for this team. *The city of Cincinnati is forever a better place because of Joseph Daniel Votto.*
