This is about UNC getting their football program up when the ACC tv deal ends so they have huge leverage with SEC and Big 10. They are already one of the most desirable schools out there with their brand, academics, mens basketball (and other sports like soccer and baseball).

North Carolina Football is not as historically bad as Dan makes them out to be. They've had many good years. Carolina is a three out of four star program. That's nowhere near as good as Clemson, Ohio State or Texas, for example, but compared to all the other schools that are basketball powerhouses, that's amazing.

As a Carolina fan, Belichick was correct when he derided every season since the only ACC Championship in 1980 as unsuccessful. 1997, we finished 3rd in the country, and Mack Brown left for Texas because he said he couldn't win a championship at Carolina. The school has never gone all in on football before. Yeah, they played in a couple ACC Championships in the last 10 years, meanwhile, Clemson won national championships. Carolina football doesn't want to be like Wake Forest basketball, a decent program, but no Final Four since 1962, and that's with Tim Duncan playing 4 years, Chris Paul for 3. Carolina had Julius Peppers, Mitch Trubisky, Sam Howell with Javonte Williams and Michael Carter, Drake Maye and Omarion Hampton and 0 ACC titles. I like that Belichick's mindset is on an ACC Championship, and that that's his measure of a successful season. Carolina football fans have wanted that since Jim Tatum died of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

Pro to college? O’Brien is college to pro. Deion isn’t a comparison he never coach NFL. Pete Carrol is good comparison. He’s started with Jets before USC. Jim Harbaugh 49ers to Michigan. But he did started out San Diego/Stanford. But not many who started as Pro coaches that became good college coaches. Nick Saban started at Michigan State to Miami(bad 2yrs) then Alabama!

I really don’t think he needs the coaching wins record. To actively go for it by taking some shitty NFL job for 2 years kinda cheapens his entire career and the whole, “we don’t care about personal stats” thing he’s always preaching.
