Atlanta wasn’t always popping with music and entertainment the older generation know that, the names she chose to name are the people who put Atlanta on and made the world know what was up. All of fulton county isnt Atlanta. College Park ans East Point in Fulton but not in Atlanta. Also part of Atlanta although small is in DeKalb county which is Zone 6 East Atlanta and East Lake. Decatur is in Dekalb County. Its technicalities but you really cant know you in EA or Decatur unless youre from here thats how close it is...slick overlap like one side Candler Rd can fall in Atlanta but across the street its Decatur.

I'm late to the party, but let me say this as an early 90s baby from Decatur, which she is right...is not Atlanta, but is rather considered the Eastside and "metro-Atlanta". I've never heard of or seen this type of divisiveness over what is true Atlanta prior to social media. Growing up, the surrounding areas Decatur, East Point, College Park were always culturally considered Atlanta (although they all lie right outside of the city limits). We definitely had playful Westside (true Atlanta) v. Eastside (DeKalb County) banter...but never this. It seems like the "true Atlantans" from the Westside look down on other natives who grew up in the neighboring areas because those communities consisted more of homes with yards than project buildings. But the truth of the matter is the city of Atlanta is small af lol. There are many people like myself who were born in the city of Atlanta but raised on the outskirts because of the fact that the city is small. That's why most of our artists are from the Southside (ClayCo), Eastside (DeKalb), and the Northside. But if you take away the Southside and the Eastside, then you'll find yourself taking away of what made Atlanta's culture (mainly in music) prominent. Outside of Lil Baby, the small city of Atlanta hasn't produced a popping act since D4L in 06. Every popping artist from Gucci to Future to 2 Chainz to Savage and Nudy that has come out of "Atlanta" over the past 15 years are all from the Eastside or Southside. Knuck if You Buck, Swag Surfin ("Atlanta Anthems") are DeKalb County products technically...so we can strip "the real Atlanta" of that too lol.
