Another great video petko! And btw the megaphobema robustum (giant columbian red leg) does those weird motions when they are disturbed because they have a unique defensive characteristic where they turn away from a threat, and position themselves with their extended long rear legs to kick backwards at whatever it is, and the urticating hairs on those legs are really bad like on the T-stirmi/blondie. Actually your jungle nymphs do the same thing with their spikes wich I remembered from past videos of yours! Lol so yeah, in the wild they will be at the entrance to their burrow and do that, and it also protects their body & fangs. Usually an animal looking for them would sniff them out, get hit with that, and take off. Porcupines, skunks, and alot of fish species apply these same evolutionary defenses in similar fashion for a few examples!

Hey Petko! I have recently (in the last month) gotten my first Tarantula after many years of attempting to convince my mother (I will send a pic of her holding a Chilean Rose at the recent invertebrate show we went to here in Bristol. I believe you may have mentioned it in a video) This allowed her to somewhat overcome her fear of them, though the one stipulation was that it has to stay in my room, which I’ve no trouble with. A friend of mine had 5/6 Tarantulas and I’ve been asking him for advice regularly, and with him pointing me in the direction of your channel I’ve jumped headlong into your content and I’m enjoying every minute of it! I’ll send a picture of my B. Smithi too, her name is Nareu (pronounced Nar-oo), which in ancient culture was “the spider that weaves the world” I run my own KZbin channel as well (called RedFang) which is mostly a gaming channel though when Nareu is big enough I’m hoping to introduce her to my 470+ subscribers. I can’t wait until she’s big enough so I can attempt to handle her, not regularly, but I’d be nice on occasion. I hope this message and accompanying pictures find you well, please feel free to give my channel a look if you’re interested, and lastly thank you for your content. It’s been a massive help! Look forward to hearing from you, with any luck! (Sent this to your fb page before I completed read the automated message. If you want to see the pics, check them out there if you like)

I do love tarantulas... the only thing that gets me is this and ill make it brief. My opinion. Wild sp should remain wild and untouched. For what we have left on this planet should be kept as pristine as possible for their safety and ours. If we happen to spot them in their natural state then we consider it a blessing. I realize there is no harm done to the species. Im just the type to admire from a distance without being hands on. On the video tho. I have a female Robustum and ive never seen that behaviour on mine. She is a digger who doesnt even use her hide; makes huge tunnels and hills from her substrate and is sometimes completely covered by it. But the next day she has cleaned all that earth from her and she is pretty again...sadly with all the digging and cleaning, she makes her butt naked. I first thought it was stress but by cleaining she sweeps her back leg over het butt and then the hairs detach. She's also skittisch and only comes out late in the evening. She's scared of any prey item that comes near but will eat it later on when im not watching. If i open the tank and she's somehow close she turns around like crazy and almost jumps into her tunnel ^^ She is one strange spider really! I think she's about the same size as yours.
