Good tips thanks, but particularly about the shoes. I think not just because of the height, but for stability too. When I practice in my slippers I have to concentrate on not wobbling about much more.

My tip- Air Force ones are by far the best darts shoes. Solid cup sole for stability, hidden air bag for comfort during long matches, as mentioned gives about an inch lift. On the other hand super comfy shoes are no good { adidas boost) as they move around too much. Damon Heat and Chris Lim represent Air ones always.

@sped69543 жыл бұрын
Great tips. On wearing shoes... If you've ever noticed, when you're wearing sneakers, you have an arch, plus... the sole is thicker at the heel than it is at the toe, so your feet aren't exactly parallel to the ground. It's not a lot thicker at the heel, but it is thicker and it will change your posture, which can and will alter your perception about where you think your upper arm is parallel to the ground. Also, if you're practicing around the house in slippers or just socks, where you place your foot on the oche will be different. It might not be a lot, but your toes don't extend all the way to the end of your shoe, and your foot will be slightly further behind the oche when you're wearing sneakers than it would be if you're barefooted or with socks and/or slippers. Again, these may not seem like a lot, but when you put these almost insignificant differences together, it's going to make a hell of a lot of difference in your height, distance and the angle that you set your upper arm in relation to the floor.
@johndirom89993 жыл бұрын
Exactly right. I'd go further and say you should be practicing in the same shoes/type of shirt and slacks that you play your matches in.

The problem for me that I found was with always practising on a very well lit board at home or a perfectly lit board as the Pros have with no shadows etc is that if you play for a pub team and play at many different venues, you will find that boards are all lit differently, some have shadows and some do not, I practice under many different lighting conditions on a Winmau diamond for example as this is the most common board in our pub league. I also practice with around 4 or 5 different sets and different weights, it relieves boredom for me as I love throwing darts and spend a few hours most days doing it on steel and soft tip boards that I own instead of throwing exactly the same set all the time and I change the flight and stem sizes all the time too and I have found that I can throw them all with the same kind of accuracy in practice but under a bit of pressure my match darts come out with a certain set up. (I have found this set up by experimenting) By constantly trying different things I find that for me I keep getting better as it works my brain to go into natural mode so I do not need to think, I could have 3 darts in my hand all different weights say one dart 28 G the second say 22g and 18g the lowest of the 3 and put all 3 next to each other in the board. I think that you are right with your advice for most people especially beginners , they will be best sticking to one thing and trying to work on stance throw etc and a sight right practice aid may also be beneficial and then when they get to a certain standard and are no longer improving then begin to experiment..

My best advice is to learn your finishes & bear in mind to also learn what is left if you miss the treble & hit the single or next door treble instead. Too many players, even in the top flight, often pause to ask the ref what's left, which breaks their rhythm & concentration, leading to missed chances. A miscount at a crucial point can also have a devastating psychological effect on the rest of your game, like the time Wayne Warren miscounted in the first leg against Cameron Menzies & lost the match 3-0. All the best & good luck getting into Q School.
@dylanstewart38302 жыл бұрын
I go for treble 19 so have recently worked out and written down all the best ways to get to my fave double 16 or finish from every score from 170 down. So like if I'm on 170 I now just go for treble19 treble19 16 to leave double tops. Or on 157 I will go treble19 treble17 17 to leave double16. Has improved my end game significantly as trying to switch to treble20 to get a 3 dart finish usually backfires and I end up getting a low as score

I used to practice with 2 sets of darts that were exactly the same, I separated them by different stem colours, but found after a couple of months, the darts were behaving differently. After examining, weighing and trying to work it out I found the following. In the beginning, all darts were within .2grams of each other After 2 months, the variation was up to .6 - fixing blunted points changed the length - new fights on singular darts rather than all also changed the length etc. I marked the darts and found those that had changed from their starting, or my comfort setting, I could no longer be as accurate as. So now, I use only 1 set of darts for practice - I regularly check the length of my points and change flights on all darts more often. I still suck, but the darts go where I throw them, not where I want them to go. So, having fixed the issue of darts putting me off, I only have to work on, well, everything else.

Hi, I'm still watching your darts basics. I am beginner .. very new.. Whenever you have time please answer this important question that is troubling me.. it's with aim.. My question is: Some people see the 'V' of flight & hit the target area .. Some people see the point of dart & aim & release.. Some don't even see .. they just throw.. Looking at those professional players, I'm confused.. when I aim with dominant eye, what aspect should I see for my dart? I know, I look at desired target spot, say T20 bed.. & I need my dart to be aligned to that exact spot.. but .. what do I need to see.. the dart tip point or 'V' in flight? Thank you

All personal preference mate, I don't line my dart up myself, I just throw. Do whatever feels the most natural for you and work from there, if you like lining your point up, or the flight up or neither, do that, see how it goes and if you're not seeing improvements, try something new. If your local doesn't want to get one as it maybe too expensive, tell them to get the cheapest darts mat they can find, then get a fixed oche attachment to it. Do you mean that you throw with your right arm and your left eye is dominant? If that is the case , there is only one way, throw with your natural throw and don’t tinker with it to much. Tinkering with it just sets you up for misery and frustration as I can tell you from personal experience. Can't comment on behalf of the Ref, but I got a Winmau Blade 5 in a cabinet, 2 sets of pretty decent darts, some chalk and some wall-charts, all for just under £50. Argos.

Hey man question for you , I’ve been playing darts for 2 and a half years now and I practice daily and I’m at a 68 avg to the finish . My problem is I’m tall and when I switch my 3rd dart from 20 to 19 I’m having trouble

Practice to hit a nine darter with five nineteens a triple and a double 18. This coming from a 6ft one very unbalanced due to nature hobbyist. One 180 when my method was the last dart was more of a lob.

Seems obvious but more people than you'd think wear no shoes practicing at home I have t wear the same pair of runners everytime i throw

I find that shoes make no difference in most pub leagues as boards are not exactly the correct height and throwing distances are not always exact either, sometimes I practice with shoes sometimes not, I do not really think about it as For me it does not matter.
@tomasmorrissey73244 жыл бұрын
@@kevspencer5744 everyone to der own might add an extra percentage too your avg if you did doh as you'd always fell you were standing at the same height as an inch makes a big difference most pubs b at d right height round here anyway
@kevspencer57444 жыл бұрын
@@tomasmorrissey7324 Makes no difference to me if I play in no shoes, Training shoes or Cowboy boots as I have tested this and by using different weights etc my brain sees the target, feels the weight in my hand and makes the adjustment subconciously . If it works for you and you feel that it improves your game thats great, its the same as people that think that 0.5 or a gram or even a gram or 2 really makes a difference. What improved my game most was to throw without thinking as thinking (am I doing this or am I doing that) makes me miss
@tomasmorrissey73244 жыл бұрын
@@kevspencer5744 whatever works for you would be funny if you wore cowboy boots doh , would b better if your brain hadn't too make the adjustment as you have to think den 🙈
@kevspencer57444 жыл бұрын
@@tomasmorrissey7324 My brain automatically makes any adjustments, just as it needs to if you have to move from the centre of the oche for example to the left or right to make a shot at a double. whatever works fr you is all that counts.

I've played darts for quite some time now but my avg is still only 45.. I really don't understand it
@samiblomqvist84684 жыл бұрын
I have been playing darts about 15 years and my avg is 60-70. When i started i look at my avg all the time and it dos not go above 50 then i quit doing that and it starts to go up. Its not so importent if you win games.
