What impresses me the most about the 2 nights at Tokyo Dome is that they did completely different sets each night, no songs were repeated. Imagine the work that went into doing 25 different songs over 2 nights.

Yes, the Tokyo Dome shows were pretty next level in every regard. Not only did 55,000 seats get sold each night, but every person who attended got a neck brace that had remote controlled lights in them that the band could activate during certain songs. It was most evident during their performance of The ONE. There was a moment when Su looked into the crowd just as all the lights in the neck braces came on to reveal the magnitude of all the people there and Su's jaw dropped when she saw it.

I was considering having that rendition be my next silver request before he reacted to the official video. (wanted him to watch tales of destinies, then "The One") If I remember right the braces didn't light up that first night until that moment. I defiantly remember Koba telling the crowd at the beginning that the neck braces would store their metal energy if they were headbanging hard enough throughout the night to be used later lol. I've also seen people say the girls didn't know about the braces beforehand but I have no legit source to know that's true.

Fun fact: Drummer Hideki Aoyama kept those double bass drums going at full speed for over 11 minutes, and had to be helped off the stage, as his legs wouldn't quite support him anymore. And another fun fact: You haven't even gotten to their most elaborate stage shows yet. You really need to see the opening to *Legend S: Baptism XX.* That's Su's 20th birthday celebration, and it's bonkers. And I really like the opening song as well, called _"In the Name of"._ It's like Sepultura, but better. It's also a very sad, as it's the first big show after Yui left the group, and there's a depressing void on one side of Su. It's also the last performance with Mikio on guitar, as he died shortly after this. I cry my eyes out every time I watch the damned thing. Rest in peace, Ko-Gami!

I think everyone behind Babymetal in particular appreciate their audience because, and I say this lovingly, the whole concept is a crazy, dumb-ass idea that should never have worked, but the talent and effort they put into it allowed them to draw an extremely loyal audience and they know that. I love this ovation at the end because of the smiles on all three of their faces; they must be completely wiped, but they know they just pulled off the biggest show of their careers.

_Kitsune tobe!_ 🦊🕊️ First of all shout-out to "Sean"! 🤪 Kidding, Shawn you're the man 🦊🤘 Tokyo Dome is huge, is the highest place after Budokan any artist could dream of, and they made it with only 17 and 18 years old, impressing even the locals who saw them grew up artistically while they were in Sakura Gakuin. Btw, one of them close to SuMetal said before this show that if she could make a devil's pact she would ask the skill to ride a Tokyo Dome rather than ride a bicycle 👀 An audience of 55K fans isn't something you see often, and they sold out both nights. It would have been nice for you to watch "Tales Of The Destinies" the night before this one and the only time they played that following with "The One". And although this stage setup with tombstone shaped platform, pyro, lasers and rotating stage is a blast you need to see their live at *Sonisphere 2014* when even younger and owned a 60K of UK metalheads crowd playing this song at the end of that mini-show, that was a turning point they always remember. Although they released officially another singles after first song Doki Doki Morning, they already got this song and performed early on live stage. Is a power/speed metal song, that's why you got the same Road Of Resistance vibes, it's part of their first album, and ROR is from the second album officially, thou there was a 2nd launch of 1st album with ROR included at the end of the tracklist. The ROR live in Japan you saw was actually cut at the final part that's why you didn't see the full long outro with the girls saluting every wing and the center, just like they did here. Thanks David for sharing this and once again shout-out to kitsune fella Shawn for giving you this, hopefully one day you'll watch the entire concert. Kitsune up! 🦊🤘

the way I've always interpreted the "devil's pact" is that in Mori sensei's eyes the gap between Su-chan off-stage and Su-metal on-stage is so big that it almost SEEMS like this silly girl off-stage most have made a deal with the devil to be able to perform like she does. In the deal she gave up the ability to ride a bike, etc. 🙂 (because these were things she could not do)

Damn, I was so glad that you watched it to the end. I was afraid you‘d find the finale boring - I should have known better. I love Su‘s prank on Moa at the end. They were obviously having such a genuine good time. BABYMETAL are often accused of being fake, but who could honestly doubt that those smiles were genuine? The Tokyo Dome show was in 2016, so not all that early in their career. With an audience of 55.000 (on each of two consecutive days) this is still their biggest indoor crowd to date.

Yep. .second album, WORLD TOUR. Talk about successful. . . I am patron member so I will request the Dream Theater influenced Tales of The Destinies from the next night that is the intro to closer The One (which you know). 100% was not expecting this to make it to KZbin. Looking forward to it. I'm curious to know what you think of something you may have missed. After the song is done and they're about to address the crowd Su takes out her in ears. Sometimes during the middle of a show she takes out one and I think it's just kind of a nice gesture to the audience. Maybe it's just for her own enjoyment to hear them but it also feels like a subtle bit of respect. This is one of their earlier songs and I personally think it's better than Road of Resistance because it's pure Babymetal where Road of Resistance will always feel partly like a Dragonforce song. EDIT: I see people saying "Why did they choose this version? Why not this other version?" I'm not going to answer everyone directly so if you're wondering, I think this is the best performance of the song, full stop. As far as I'm aware this hasn't messed with the other request that was in the queue. If you've got a problem with this performance go request your own. If you've got a problem with that as a solution well then you simply can't be pleased. Besides, that high of a score and multiple "how can you not love it?" should be proof enough that this was a good choice.

Hey Shawn, I am surprised this got through as well. I need to get this concert on dvd. I have Legend 1997 and 1999, and Baptism XX. But, I have to work within my budget. I have never seen the whole version of this song in one performance before on KZbin, it is simply fantastic. Oh, and if you have David's ear, tell him to track the full version of Road of Resistance where they cross the two bridges either side of the platform leading out from the stage, to thank their fans. The Road of Resistance video he reacted to was the shortened version, without the extended fan acknowledgement by Babymetal> However, this was the best performance of IDZ I have seen. Thank you for sending that to David. Awesome stuff.

Great & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Your pronunciation of the title is perfect. I am a little bit surprised that this Tokyo Dome video did not get blocked even in Japan area. You are lucky and I appreciate your luckiness. Yes, you are right. The message of this song is great. The phrase "Dame Zettai (= No absolutely)" is originated from police campaign against illegal drugs which had started in 1960s. So this song implies that "Ijime (= bullying)" is considered as harmful and addictive as illegal drugs. We have to continue our efforts at home and in school (and in any society or organization or group in the world) to eliminate it. Last year 2021, BABYMETAL performed IDZ in all of 10 BABYMETAL Budokan Concerts with Su-Metal's matured voice and Moa's encouraging moves synchronized with Momoko avenger. It was probably their message to the current world. Oh! the production of shows in recent years are also mesmerizeing. Gigantic backdrop screen and computer graphic effects on it, projection mapping, movable stage, telescopic stage, dual outer corridors to make the girls closer to audiences. Some of those were used in one and only arena show in USA at the Forum on Oct.11, 2019.

The end of the Road of Resistance performance you reacted to, they actually also went down two other bridges, but the video on their official channel that you watched cuts out the other two bridge parts. As far as I know, they make a point to always do this. If there are bridges (and there always seems to be), they'll use them all. Tokyo Dome was about halfway through their career to-date. 2016. Some say this is the pinnacle of their work, but really they've moved into a new era as the members have matured and they continue to experiment with their sound and production style. You've seen a ton of their older stuff, and I'm excited for you to encounter some of their newer work. The third album takes some wild turns, and you haven't heard a single song from it yet. Off to Patreon to make sure some are in the queue.

This concert was in 2016, and BABYMETAL was formed in 2010, so this isn't early in their career. It took a while before the company started putting big money behind the group since the metal genre wasn't a moneymaker in Japan at the time. In the beginning they performed in small venues/warehouses/food courts with just 100-150 crowds. Even in their first video, Doki Doki Morning, was made on a very small budget and borrowed outfits from family/friends. But after 2-3 years, their following had grown big, justifying money from the company. 🤘🦊🤘

I've already made a comment but I want to leave more of a description of this show as it's own comment. The thought put into this stage on how to give 55k people a good show is incredible. Not only is there platforms that are used throughout the shows to get closer to the entire audience, but for some songs where they can't move around due to choreography the outer ring of the main stage rotates. Not only that, but the inner ring where the musicians are rotates so that throughout the show you get to see each and every one of them no matter where you're seated. The upper platform, while not used too often, is used for enough songs and they even transfer mid song a couple times, masking the elevator time with band solos. The band is always there center stage and throughout the entire show and you get to see the absolutely great performance they put on. You get a different show if you focus on watching the musicians and it makes it so much fun to re-watch. As for the lyrics, it surprised me when I saw that it doesn't stop at saying "bullying is bad, stop it", they go so far as to say if you see bullying and you don't do anything about it you're part of the problem.

There's some subtlety to the fight part of the song. First the guitars switch off almost in time with the choreography. But really the message of the song hits home when Su comes in to break it up. I think that was meant to be a visual representation of stopping bullying.

The best Metal song ever about No More Bullying Forever! Gotta recommend the Sonisphere 2014 version of this too as SuMetal said it was the most memorable moment of her career as she knew at the end of the performance - and the response from the 60,000 Metal heads watching - that BabyMetal had been accepted into the Metal world. Don't worry about getting the crowd responses right. Basically, stay silent when Su is singing and leap up and down and wave your hands in the air/do the fox sign at all other times. And we all know you've been part of The One for a long time now due to your sharp analysis and appreciation of the band and the girls, the production, the sound, the lights, the pyro and other things. 🦊🤘🤘🦊 PS As to wondering what their live shows look like now, the 10 nights they did at Budokan last year was epic but, when I saw them in Feb 2020, in a hall that had 2000 standing with just a screen behind them...they were epic too! Not so much in the way of colossal stage production but just as epic musically, vocally and choreographically.

Hey DH, just became a Patreon member. I think it's a major part of the BM lore. Something like they weren't supposed to be on the main stage but there was a dropout and they were dropped in and their performance blew away the unsuspecting 60,000 crowd. Also check out the UK flag version of the BabyMetal logo. No firepots or other production value at a festival performance but look at the cojones on these very young performers braving an enormous crowd in broad daylight and absolutely killing it. Major crowd reaction and mosh pit mayhem. I think you will enjoy it more than the one you reviewed.

Great reaction. This song hits me in the feels. as i was bullied at school. Ok it was decades ago and I've put that behind me a long time ago. But there is this part when Moa and Yui goes down on their knees in praying position Su sings these lines that could have been mine those years: "Namida mise-zu ni, nakidashi-soona yoru wa kokoro no oku no heya ni hitori. Kizutsuketa no wa hoka no dareka dake ja naku kizuka-nai furi shiteta nakama." "I didn't show my tears, and in the night I was about to cry, in a room deep inside my heart, I stayed alone. Those who hurt me were not only someone else, but also those who pretended not to notice. It was my friend."

Fun facts for this show. Stage design: Each coffin has an elevator at the end. The discs are also on a track. The central stage rotates. (As normal) There is a secondary stage above the giant monitors. Both with a mini center and two wings. The drummer had to be helped up after the last C&R section of this song. This show was in 2016 at the height of their power. 55,000 for two nights. Sold out. Kami band for that night : Takayoshi Ohmura (Guitar), Leda Cygnus (Guitar), Boh (Bass), Hideki Aoyama (Drums).

Hello @David Heretic! When you can, stop at the end of the song, when the girls are on their knees and look at their faces! Man, the expressions of joy and satisfaction from those young girls, like "we did it!", in front of 55,000 people, are touching. That's empowerment! PS: These shows at Tokyo Dome are must see.

This song is off their first album, so the girls were extremely young when they recorded this. While this track has a fantastic message, the choreography leans more toward the “cute” side, as it’s very age appropriate. That being said, in the early years of the band, this song was the closer for all of their concerts. BABYMETAL Death was the traditional opener during that era.

Some people think that BabyMetal's success is very easy. But if they look at BabyMetal's history, what girls go through and what they do at such a young age, they can see how difficult it is for them to succeed. For example, like this 55,000-person Tokyo Dome concert, the girls will worry about whether there are too few tickets sold, whether their performance can satisfy the audience, whether there will be major mistakes in the performance ••• and so on. We can tell how much pressure they were under and how hard they worked to prepare for this concert.

This is from the Tokyo Dome concerts (two nights, Red and Black). Crowd was 50,000 each night and they can even go to the very top as there is a stage up there as well, very impressive stage setup. The end of the 'Red Night' concert ended with 'Tales of the Destinies' and 'The One' (which go together) and is one of their best performances and various effects but comes in at about 18 minutes for both songs. This is one of the concerts that tends to get struck though, a number of their concerts as well as ones from SCANDAL are broadcast by WOWOW though with some tracks missing to encourage DVD sales. WOWOW tends to go after tracks broadcast by them and the bands go after the rest though some do get through (SCANDAL's song 'Burn' from their first Budokan concert is one that tends to slip past). It is unlikely you have seen many video's of this show except in some compilation video's but the round stage was also used at their first Budokan concert.

I think we're at a point where you now almost fully grasp why we BABYMETAL fans always say that this band should be experienced live because that is where they shine the brightest. Sure, at first you'd think "well, that's pretty much what any fan of any band would say" but in BABYMETAL's case that's certainly not an exaggeration. It is absolutely fine not to like their music but nobody can say they do not deliver and give people a true show. None of the people who went to that show left thinking they'd been robbed, that's a given. It was cut in the montage and you don't see it but there are longer plans of the crowd when the girls enter the third "elongated coffin" because Su actually slips and falls on her arse because that part of the stage was extra slippery. That's also the reason why they are holding eachother during that time. There are indeed clips of the slip if you dig through online but that's besides the point, just a fun little anecdote. Oh and this was possibly their grandest show to date. This was Tokyo Dome, two consecutive nights where they played their entire two albums with different production choices. They played twice in front of 55k people with two completely different setlists and theatrics. This was in 2016 and it's often considered one of their peak shows until today. So this was actually 1-2 years after the Road of Resistance you reacted to and they've never played in front of more people before or since then (except if you count huge festivals like Download or Sonisphere, ofcourse). They used the stage to its absolute max.

Thank you to the patreon who got you to react to this David. Breathtaking stage at the Dome but sometimes it's about the audience. Here no doubt the audience are the hardcore fans of BM but at Sonisphere, the girls gambled with their fate and performed in front of non fans who later showed their love and admiration for BM when the show ended. Prove? Their merch sold out the fastest at the fest.

You're right, I hadn't noticed either! And look at the patterns of the edge lighting in three different areas: the large stage, the coffin runways, and the circle platforms on those runways (which themselves can travel the length of the runways carrying a performer). In the dark you can see the runways are using white and red light to create long pulses along their length, and at the same time there a different effect with light quickly circling around the small platforms, then with the song entering the next part the main stage edge flashes white on and off. But there's too much going on to even notice these details, you just feel the combined effects.

Thanks for this reaction ! It's kind of hilarious, at Tokyo Dome is sadly all seated (the venue doesn't allow anything else, because of the type of floor, it's normally a baseball stadium) and thus no wall of death. They just had to kept that message in the video intro though... And the irony of using Wall Of Death for a song against bullying. Kind 'violence' of a Wall of Death better than real violence of bullying I guess. And a message "I don't want to see you cry anymore" is that directed at David ? ;-) Their seems to be some confusion, Tokyo Dome (2016) definitely was not at the start of their Babymetal career. Only the song is one of their earlier songs. Tokyo Dome show was almost 2 years after the Road of Resistance performane you watched from 2015. Amuse 100% did NOT put any money behind Babymetal from the start, Babymetal's first own show was after 2 years and it was 250 people with no live Kami band, just a recording playing in the back. Tokyo Dome (2016) stage is crazy, their biggest production ever: - 360 degrees stage again (like the other venue: Budokan in 2014 and later in 2021) - at least 10 meters/30 feet high tower. Which has a stage on top with an elevator inside, with a second ring just below the top stage. - a huge screen, what is displayed is displayed 3 times to make the 360 degrees I think - below the screen a rotating stage with Kami band inner stage, drummer in the middle. But not rotating I believe. - walkways with trolly or whatever it's called inside I'm sure. Because at the end of each side is a hatch they can get out of. You don't need to know the parts, not to worry ! Road of Resistance is from the second album, ijime,Dame,Zettai is from the first album (so Kami band knows really well how to play it), 'IDZ' was normally used as the closing song before 'RoR' took over that role. I doubt their was a normal 'front of house', they were performing on all sides. 'The poor drummer', Hideki, legend is: he got carried from the stage because he was to tired in the legs after this performance. PS For a little bonus video which was not included in the DVD/Blu-ray, check out the KZbin video: Su-Metal slips at the Tokyo Dome 2016

What you were saying about how Babymetal takes the time to appreciate their fans gave me the crazy idea that you should watch a couple of their interviews. Their interviews are definitely not like typical rock star interviews. The girls didn't really know anything about metal until they signed on to Babymetal so they basically learned all about it from the stage and from observing other bands at the festivals they played at. The whole thing was an adventure for them, like they were in Disney Land. I don't know if a whole reaction could be made of it but maybe a couple in addition to a song? I don't think we'd mind an even longer reaction. :D

Nice reaction. Babymetal knows how to put on a show for sure. Just another reason why folks love Babymetal live. Song starts slow but yup they go wall of death mode right after that. Babymetal have done extended versions of songs where they add in a change of key at the end. Su pulls off the key changes every time. Yui and Moa did do some fireball throws. Yui even once did a flying kick at Moa then Moa did a backbend to duck under it. Yeah, they never did that one again. When they do the "We Are Babymetal" part it's never over until you hear Su hole out the We Aaaaaaaaaaaaaare. Earlier in the show Su started the song Amore from the top as well. Babymetal wants to give everyone their monies worth. Love the smiles they have as they finally get to wave to the crowd.

A couple of fun points ... 1) when they went out the third time there's a moment where they're all arm in arm ... it's not because they love each other (although they do) but rather it's because the ramps had gotten so slippery from the cryo and pyro that they were holding each other up (if you pay attention they almost slip a few times) ... 2) when the guitarists come out you'll see one of them (Leda Cygus with the black guitar) is laughing hysterically because he had just taken a total fall on his ass, again because the whole stage was slippery (he is usually rather stoic) ... and 3) this is my opinion, but although Su is our Queen ... when she allowed Yui to lead the chant but then pulled the mic from Moa it shows that she is also a brat (as a grandfather I can say that)!

As people said in the comments that we are all surprised this version of the song made it on to KZbin. I have never seen the ending to this song for the Tokyo Dome, just spot on beautiful. The Kami band coming out was one of the most respectful thing I have seen for the musicians of Babymetal. I do hope you check out Babymetal with both Kami bands and all avengers. It is just a sight to see. There 2 shows with both too. If you may like to hear more Moa and Yui, I still reccomend Sis Anger from Tokyo Dome. Just amazing song and amazing show. You also will see Babymetal adress the crowd in certain songs or shows like Megitsune in Budokan 2021. That one is still fun one to see. By the way I am pretty sure they all rise from those areas from actual coffins for intro of the show for the song Babymetal Death. David you really liked the stage. I'm sure others mention it here but those coffins were there the whole show. The platform they first step down on to get to the floor of the coffin. That platform actually moves from one end of the coffin to the other. They use it numerous times during the show. The round stage has two rotating parts one with the band rotating and the other part the girls are on rotates too. In fact not to try and be a spoiler but when those platforms are at the far end of the coffin in the crowd they also have a trap door the girls rise up from. This show starts off with BabyMetal Death and the all three girls rise up on a cross on each of those coffins. You ever get a chance to see this show on bluray or streaming I recommend it. Watching the whole Tokyo Dome chant Death is one of the most memorable concert scenes I have ever seen. My jaw just dropped when I first saw it.

Great reaction, David!! I feel that you need to watch the Live in Sonosphere version as well, because, even though it's the very same song, it was their first time live at Sonosphere, in the UK, on the main stage. In essence, it's a stripped down version of this show and happened at two odd years earlier when Su was 16 and the other two were only 14. Needless to say, they were complete nobodies at the time (Metallica and Maiden performed later that day on that very stage), with just one viral video, and had no business being there at all - even Time Magazine doubted their ability to win an overseas crowd of Metalheads over. However, by the last song, Ijime, Dame, Zettai... I'm not gonna spoil it for you. It's a spectacular moment in the history of Rock and I would greatly appreciate your thoughts and insights on that.

Something I forgot to mention before: the whole stage, etc. was build at this location in one night (I'm certain some warehouse or whatever already had it set up before in preparation ? At least in large parts). Because their was a baseball game the day before, then it was 2 days of Babymetal and tear down is one night as well because their was an other baseball game, I think. Some other event at least. What a lot of people don't notice is how they had wires with cameras on them 'flying' over the crowd and stage. A little lady called Suzuka Nakamoto (also known as Su-metal on stage and in interviews) with her mom was at a baseball game at this stadium less than 2 weeks before this Tokyo Dome performance. She usually doesn't go see them, but it was also Hiroshima's team (where she is from) who played there. They won the championship first time is many years. Baseball is one of the 4 or 5 biggest sports in Japan. So pretty big deal. But I'm certain she wasn't just thinking of the game. :-) Babymetal girls have also visited other stadiums before performing a big show. Only one other time we know what they went to see it was 5 seconds of summer at Wembley Arena. That was some 10 months before. 5 seconds of summer performed there 3 days, pretty much the same setlist but: 'Note: Cut short due to Michael Clifford's head catching on fire during "She Looks So Perfect"' ! Hopefully they girls were not at that show or it might have put some fear in them for performing with pyrotechnics.

They played every song from their first two albums (and the one song that was only on the international release so they didn't play it live was being played over the PA system as people left at the end.

and here i am commenting again! by the thumbnail i saw that you're doing tokyo dome version! the tokyo dome concerts are actually my favorite babymetal concerts. they played two nights, Red Night and Black Night. IDZ was played at Black Night as the last song. in TD they played their whole discography at that time (except From Dusk Till Dawn bc it was an english release) as the final part of their 2016 world tour. Both concerts had a different setlist. Now onto the video the spoken intro to IDZ gets me so often. yes the crowd claps to the song in the beginning. Tokyo Dome has an incredible stage set up. There's 3 coffins with a circular stage in the middle. the circular stage(s) also spin and on top of the big screen there's another platform which you can get to through an elevator. IDZ is actually one of their most early songs released back in 2013. Road of Resistance was actually on both albums for some reason. The last track of Babymetal and first track of Metal Resistance. in the pre breakdown the voices are actually prerecorded. post 2018 i think they still used Yui's lines except for the Legend Metal Galaxy perfomance and in the Budokan 2021 concerts where Momoko's (the 3rd dancer that was dancing in Yui's spot) voice was played in palce of Yui. and now they We Are - Babymetal part. in one of the coffin stages Su slipped and Moa almost slipped which they didn't obviously show in the official clip. but there's a vid on yt of them falling lol cute how they later were holding onto each other so they won't slip again. i love how they still managed to joke on such a huge venue. in the fancams of smaller concerts you can see that they like goofing around, but on big stages they keep their character. ohmura in these two concerts was amazing. loved his sillyness. 2016 wasn't the beginning of their career! it was their peak tbh. concerts are kinda tamer now with a boring screen with visuals behind them (it fits SOME songs, but still. i miss the cult and the foxes). Dark Night Carinval in 2018 is the last one they went off. and Legend Metal Galaxy Day 1 and Day 2 in the beginning of 2020 was a very expensive concert but a bit lacked a ~pazzas~ they used to have. in your free time you can totally check out IDZ from Sonisphere 2014 and from Budokan 2021, both on their official channel and you can really hear her vocal development. more tips on recognizing yui and moa. moa has a more brownish tan complexion with brownish black soft hair, dimples, smiles a lot. and during Tokyo Dome she actually sang more than yui. especially during road of resistance where she did a woooaahh on her own. yui has pale skin and contrasting black stiffer hair. has a smaller mouth and focuses more on dancing. (the girls are sometimes off sync by a split second with moa going a bit faster)

Road Of Resistance wasn't included on first album release officially, it was included on a second edition as a final track for the international version. It's included in Metal Resistance their 2nd album officially as the opening song. 🦊🤘

I never even noticed the stage prongs were coffin shapped till you said and i've seen this whole show. But yes they are there for the whole show. I think the previous show with the round stage you've done videos for was the the Budokan Black Night. This is Tokyo Dome and was the biggest 2 shows they ever did.

So many comments and I am sure everything I will say was already covered but I'll throw in my comments as well. Thanks Shawn for requesting this. I wanted David to see them perform at the Toyko Dome since he loves production. You didn't see it in this song but those circle parts on the "Coffins" move out too. And Yui and Moa ride them out into the crowd during their Black BABYMETAL Songs. You can tell the girls love the fans and what they do. Just look at those smiles. Those are the most happy, real, precious smiles I have ever seen. They are so humble and sincere. And how cute was it that Su totally trolled Moa with the Mic? It was a tiny revenge I think because what you didn't see was Su slip on the Coffin area. There seemed to be some grease left from the sliding stages i am guessing. Su recovered well and Yui and Moa slipped around a little too. I am sure Moa teased Su a little for it. The Kami band as well were so happy and excited themselves to play at the Tokyo Dome. I was hoping to you would see their Sonisphere performance as it was a historic one in their career. It made believers out of 60k metalheads when they were not very well known yet. Many went to hate on them because of Gimme Chocolate. BABYMETAL ended up out selling all other bands merch after all said and done. You can even hear the crowd chant "we want more". This was BABYMETAL bare bones. Just the Kami band and the girls. No special production since it was a festival. Do yourself a favor and watch it sometime. Su's vocals are amazing in it. RoR received a 9.8 but I am more than happy you gave this a 9.7. Also I think you were thinking of the Budokan stage that was also round and rotated with similar colors. 🤘🦊🤘

I think you are getting 2 shows mixed up David: you already saw the circular stage at the Budokan in 2014, that also had a Red Night and a Black Night. This one was the Tokyo Dome in 2016, not that early in their history since it was their 3rd world tour (maybe 2nd?) and it's their biggest solo show up to now, with 55k people on each of 2 consecutive nights! You might have missed it in the comments from Road of Resistance, but that video that you saw was cut a bit towards the end, because in that show (in 2015) the girls also went in all 3 different bridges to do the call and response of "We AREEEEE" :D I hope someone lets you see the opening for their 2017 Legend S show, that is the most impressive production I ever saw :) In most recent years they toned a bit down the production if we are talking about big Objects, but they instead have Giants screens, movable platforms to perform in the middle of the crowd, and a lot of light and smoke effects! Road of Resistance was a bonus track in a special edition of their first album, but it's included in their second album, while "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" it's in their first album, and even more it's one of their first songs! If i'm not mistaken, it's the second song they ever wrote, but they released a bit later because it was a bit too of a "standard" metal song and they wanted to release something else before, like "Iine" Thanks for this wonderful reaction, can't wait for the next one :) PS: What a lazy drummer, he's the only one who didn't walk all the way towards the crowd!! There is a voice circulating that says that the drummer had to be helped out the Arena, since he couldn't walk alone 😄

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🚫 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' actually precedes 'Road of Resistance'. It was released as a single in early 2013, and included on the first album. They had this song ready to go, but they decided to release 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning' and 'Iine!' first so they wouldn't get pigeon-holed stylistically. From the beginning, their philosophy has been that if a song sounds too much like one genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song. Lots of speed metal in this one though. There is an alternate "Nemesis" version of this song, found on limited editions of the single. It features guitars recorded by former Arch Enemy guitarist Christopher Amott.

That was awesome, thanks! I'm totally behind that message as well and the song itself is one of my favorites without any doubt. And yeah, that nice key change near the end! The Tokyo Dome performance is really top and the production was totally insane. I believe it speaks by itself. Su's vocals, as always, flawless. The studio version was one of their first recordings and Su sounds very young. Honestly, this live version sounds waaaaay better. And Su trolling Moa with the mic... I'm sure she paid for that later hehehe...

I thought we might get to see you react to "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" at some point or other but I was very surprised that you took this performance on. Don't get me wrong. The two Tokyo Dome shows with 55,000 sell outs on consecutive nights in 2016 are among the most iconic shows in Babymetal's history. The most famous performance of this song, indeed the most legendary, however was in 2014 at the Sonisphere festival in the UK. At that time Babymetal was hardly known at all outside of Japan and this was their first tour in Europe. They were allocated a lunch time spot on the main stage for a short set of just five songs. They didn't expect anybody to show bar a few die hard fans to show up but in the event between 50 and 60 thousand hung over metal heads, notorious for being brutal to acts they don't like, turned out out of curiosity. The girls were scared to death when they saw the crowd (Su was just 15 and Yui and Moa were 13) but they went out and crushed it anyway. 90% of that crowd had never heard of Babymetal but by the end of that short set there were probably 40,000 new fans. It is one thing to put on a show in front of 55,000 of your fanatical fans with all the full production but it is a whole different matter to win over 50,000 skeptical UK metal heads without all the pyrotechnics, cryo, lasers, bells and whistles; juswt a raw show with just the singers and the band. That shows you the real metal they are made of. I do hope you'll take the time to watch the Sonisphere performance. Tokyo Dome 2016 was a pair of fantastic shows but Sonisphere 2014 is the stuff that legends are made of.

I've been watching this reaction for a while now and it inspired me to buy all the live dvds, and I've now been to see them at Wembley, and will see them again at the Roundhouse London later this year, my point is this is awesome. Never felt like this about a band.😊

Actually, in the song Road of Resistance Live in Japan that you have already reacted to, there are correct me if im wrong there are 4 stages, the main stage where we are the band and the middle stage maybe sometimes SuMoaYui performs there and on the main stage and is on the right and left small stage. Actually if you realize they cut the last part before Su shouted their long "WEE AREE" to the stage right and left to appreciate the audience
@shawn4819
@shawn4819 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah.. that wasn't a cut for the audience, that was cut because as soon as Su gets on that last platform she slips and falls on her ass. In fact when it goes back to the long shot of the platform you can see Yui almost slip as well and Moa keeps her up. That's why they've all got their arms around each other.
