A perfect storm is brewing in the United States. Inflation, bank collapse, severe drought in the agricultural belt, recession, food shortages, diesel fuel and heating oil shortages, baby formula shortages, available automobile shortages and prices, the price of living place. It's all coming together and it could lead to a real disaster towards the end of this year (or sooner). With inflation currently at about 6%, my primary concern is how to maximize my savings/retirement fund of about $300k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains.

Investing in stocks can be a wise decision, especially if you have a dependable trading system that can lead to successful outcomes. Why is the yield curve inverted? It's because interest rates were low for so long that people gave up taking a risk and starting a business for taking on the risk of owning a highly leveraged home. Low interest rates are a direct cause of mortgage inflation. 346k mortgage@8%=600k@3%. Home prices get to go up because money is cheaper to borrow leading to a fake wealth effect causing people to spend money they don't have because the asset isn't actually worth what people are paying for it. Satoshi Nakamoto was for getting rid of the central bank, not asking it to lower interest rates to keep the ponzi going.

It's good for our current fiat system, everything cannot inflate otherwise you get wage-price spiral and the entire charade ends rapidly. So the hope is that we can import cheap labor and suppress wages from immigrants who are used to lower living standards. This allows the "money printer" apparatus to keep chugging along, but quality and standard of life goes down for 99% while the 1st get richer.

The normal state of the U.S. economy is actually very bad. Because of this it goes into convulsive spasms fighting to grow any way it can out of desperation. Tricks, gimmicks, rule changes try to stimulate the economy and prevent it from falling but they only bring temporary relief to people since, when you factor in inflation we are declining.

The answer is to encourage production. Replace all income taxes with a progressive consumption tax. At least replace the payroll tax with a national sales tax. The way to eliminate inflation is to first top printing new money. That is a requirement. Second is to encourage production. Do not punish work and production. Also loans can be indexed to a basket of goods. If the basket of goods and services goes down in value, then the loan should go down. If they go up, then the loan principle should go up. I do not agree that rates should be cut. We did that before and look at the mess we are in. The US and Canada cannot control the weather. Both countries have ignored mass transit. Yes you can have your inflated food delivered to you but people cannot stay home. Our supply has been cut for almost everything and that drives up prices.

I was listening to his opinion and the assumptions he is having to make to reach his conclusions. He assumes: 1) the government and central banks will become responsible; 2) he ignores the threat of the huge global geopolitical risk. In other words, he assumes “all things being equal.” 3) The holding of interest rates won’t break any that’ll bad. // I appreciate his optimism. He is a cheerleader trying to sell risk.

I agree with you. Should they cut rates we get hyperinfation. They printed WAY too much money. We know the FED is always late, both raising and cutting. This mistake usually did not cause too much of an issue... usually just a recession. This time with the debts being so high them being to late will cause a depression but that is what we need. We need a massive decline in prices. So in a nutshell we are stuck.

Physical Gold and Silver have intrinsic value vs. fiat or crypto. So I would disagree completely with any BTC investment or MMT theory long-term. I like these stocks: CEF (60%gold/40%silver), PSLV, OUNZ, SGOL, GDX, GDXJ. They have low (< 0.8%) fees/expense ratios and the miners GDX and GDXJ pay nice dividends annually, and the Gold and Silver miner dividends should go up in 2024 as Gold and Silver rise to new highs.
