Rugby players do not wear pads because of the how dynamic the game is. We are taught to tackle properly with our shoulders and not the head so a helmet is not needed. Remember, American Football was created from rugby, so alot of the changes were made for football specifically.

Hey guys great video. Just to let you guys know this is rugby league not rugby. Rugby league has 13 players eash side on the field where rugby has 15 players each side and the rules are a different too any SJ was and still is an amazing player but he doesnt play like that anymore due to injuries and also if you guys dont know the NRL ( national rugby league) is play 2 games at Allegiant Stadium in Vagas next march so we will see how the size of the field will impact the game.
@shipwreckedonapopulatedisland Жыл бұрын
Rugby league is 13 a side, rugby union is 15 a side. Johnson plays League it's a faster more free flowing game, he's also a No.7 (halfback) which is like a Quarterback in that he directs the team around the field and makes the major plays. Great player.
@zeventic-9584 Жыл бұрын
3:47 This is when he had a major injury on his ankle. Causing him to not play for a period of time and when he came back he was not as flashy or shifty as he was. As of now he's doing pretty good, Just more cautious on that ankle again. ouch

The game he plays is Rugby League. Australia has THE top rugby league competition in the world, and The Auckland Warriors are the only non Australian team, as they are from New Zealand

Fifteen people on the field-- The field is 75 yards wide. That's some 25 yards wider than an NFL field so, man for man, the players have the same width of field to defend. Being an American I have played rugby on an American Football field. That is brutal because there is just no place to go. No space to exploit.

First time watching his highlights and he looks like he has shades of JT but just not quite there yet. Rugby 7s = 7 players Rugby League =13 players (this video) Rugby Union =15 players AfL =18 players Definitely agree with the GI recommendation retirement tribute for NRL and Lomu for Rugby Union. In league they don't have GOAT'S they have immortals of which GI and JT are expected to join those ranks. There are 13 immortals currently, only 3 living and one of those 3 played his entire career with epilepsy and it was never made public until after his long illustrious career ended. No amount of money or wins or fancy footwork grants immortality. Your life has to impact the game, improve the culture/reputation of the game and improve the skills/tactics of the game both on and off the field during and after retirement.

My husband played Rugby up to and Inc. college. He was on the wings( traditionally really fast). Rugby players have fewer concussions than NFL players. The reason for this is 2 fold but your NFL teams are starting to adopt Rugby training practices for technique. Also training without pads. Firstly technique training starts at school. It is strictly observed and incorrect tackling penalised. The technique benefits the hit and the hitter. Without pads it's obvious if your technique is bad, because you get hurt. Rugby is a highly aerobic sport needing a great deal of stamina and lung capacity because we don't have downs. Players build muscle to protect the body. Common injury is therefore knees. Many players have long term knee problems. I am lucky that my husband was so fast he rarely got hit.
@TheDemouchetsREACT2 жыл бұрын
I bet those games were intense! Our football players actually practice without pads for certain practices. The more we watch Rugby, the more we think why pads were used to begin with because rugby is hard-core.

@@TheDemouchetsREACT I dropped a message on a music reaction, so wrong place. If you think rugby is hardcore check out the origional ball game played every year for 822 years. The game is only possible because we have free ambulances and health care.

Scrum is the most dangerous place on the field. People break necks when it goes down wrong. I think we average a death or two every year from rugby. I believe every time it is the scrum. Which is why the last 10 years they have been altering the scrum. No "engage" call anymore just "Set". Lots more focus on keeping it organised and upright. Some teams used to just make entire games just a big messy maul/scrum and shut out the game.
