Hey Fam, i am from Durban iv been in Cambodia for 9 months and i will be heading back home on the 6th of June flying to Johannesburg 😂 besides missing my family. Its the chicken licken, nandos pepper steak pies steers braai meat pap and spinach tribe bunny chow and briyani that i miss, South Africans who have never left South Africa will never fully understand and appreciate Our beautiful country ❤

Hey guys, I am from the east coast of SA, Durban. What he describes is probably a very honest view from the perspective of someone visiting, a view that is to a larger extent, very prevalent in our country. The contrast between the rich and the poor is indeed that much apparent unfortunately. The legacy of apartheid still lingers. I love your videos and I enjoy watching your reactions to our country and hopefully you will experience ubuntu for yourselves when you come to visit. Peace!!!

Before Hillbrow became the criminal microcosm it is now, full of Nigerian trafficker,Zimbabwean and Mozambican cartels and many other criminal activities, it was safe and the nightlife hotspot of the city. Now,its supremely unsafe to walk about,day OR night

Hillbrow actually was one of the first parts of Joburg to be cosmopolitan /mixed race. It was very safe and a hub for artists, poets , intellectuals , free thinkers and political activists. You could walk around anytime of day or night and be safe . The buildings are now run down because they are hijacked. The city is not paid for services . The majority South Africans who stayed there left . Sad.

I've been to South Africa and staff at wherever I stay never let me venture-out on my own. It's a great place, I always meet locals while i'm there, but it seems as though every resident has a story of being robbed. I'll still go back, though.

Please note that Johanessburg covers a geographical a surface area three times that of New York thus you cann fully experience Joburg in different world without overlapping crime areas.

There are white squatter camps in SA, the area where he talked about is Hillbrow / Berea / Yeoville. There are people of all races living there, but it's very run down and crime ridden, mostly being taken over by crime lords (we call it little Nigeria), because there is such a large population of foreigners (legal and illegal migrants). The "white" squatter camps aren't generally visited by poverty porn tourists (there is a massive tourist market where people are taken into squatter camps to gape at the poor people there....probably not the right way to describe it, it just annoys me because I can't see that it makes any kind of difference to the lives of the people living there).

@@TheDemouchetsREACT yes Sisi is that area where he showed that flat and everyone was selling on the streets and that shop, you know which one 😊. I can never walk in JHB CBD and Hillbrow alone. I always get somebody to accompany me then I am not too scared otherwise I won't go. I am not strong enough.
@zaneleradebe2808 Жыл бұрын
There are a few South Africans left in Hillbrow, but mostly fresh from other provinces and not entire families. People there usually don't own the flats they live in - it is almost exclusively rentals. Meaning that a lot of people are transient. They move from unit to unit at the drop of a hat. No real sense of ownership or community. Lots of apathy. Almost a collective depression numbed by substance dependence or church. Just everyone hustling and tryna survive til the next day. I think that partly explains the filth. Joburg CBD (especially Small Street) is a place you should probably avoid when you are by yourself especially if you are carrying anything valuable. Go about your business then quickly leave. Yeoville, for me, is worse than both.

I'm trying to connect the dots of the title of this video. Yes Hilbro is dangerous dominated by petty crimes like mugging n drugs if people can detect you being unfamiliar with the place , that's Joburg slum area. We have a family from Louisiana New Orleans residing here in SA, and the gentleman said Joburg is not dangerous as people perceive compared to top 50 dangerous city in the world. As for inequality unfortunately that's the legacy of Apartheid.
@TheDemouchetsREACT Жыл бұрын
It’s the title of the original video. We’re from Louisiana (New Orleans and Lafayette), so we felt the same way but again, we couldn’t see the full scope of what he saw.
@THEERNEST525 Жыл бұрын
The problem with perception is most people can only tell you about places they have lived in so for me as someone who lives in Joburg South townships I can relate to the dangers that come with the territory
@zaneleradebe2808 Жыл бұрын
Honestly, a lot of these dangerous 'hoods - if you can't avoid them - can be navigated if you aren't too conspicuous and use a bit of common sense 🤔
