Damaged Roof Update

We had to get this tarp off of our roof. The amount of humidity we have been dealing with in our house is not good at all. We had a roof guy come out and install some small patches to help us out, but the insurance does not want to help us fix this problem.

Well, if I were you guys, I would take the problem with the insurance company to Houston news station and shame them in the public for doing you wrong and probably other customers of theirs wrong. Over the years, I have found that is totally amazing what a company will do just to save face in the public eye.

I was married to a property claims adjuster with a major insurance company and he told me several times that the adjusters are told to deny deny deny but if you fight hard enough they have to pay! That whole thought process is so wrong!

we went through this with a roof with severe damage around the chimney as well. had numerous roofing companies submit, all were denied. finally, called the family roofing company guy. Not only did he give the best price thousands below others they completely rebuilt the chimney too! Paid cash and Cancelled the insurance company. Roof is beautiful. He also gave us the name of his sheetrock guy that repairs interior roof leaks damage. No insurance will be filed will pay cash for that too. if you have land you have equity; particularly, when its all paid off because you worked like a dog for years to pay it off. No real need for insurance companies, at this point. A thing of the past. looking into buying Bonds to cover vehicles since Auto insurers have Lost their Minds too!

My town had a huge hail storm and lots of damages to all the roofs. My condo HOA insurance replaced all 139 roofs that year along with replacing broken windows . All done and fixed within a month. They need a new insurance company after all this is taken care of.

I am so so sorry that you guys have to deal with this... 😢 The roofing company that put all the freaking nails in your roof should be made responsible as well... see , you need an entire new roof now , NOT a nail over, meaning just putting another roof over this one after repairs are done. This needs to be all torn down ,repairs made, and a new roof put on . Have them checked the dryer vent area for black mold... I am so, so sorry 😢😢😢

This insurance company should not only have to repair this roof but should also have to pay for the mental stress they have caused you and your family during this time. You should contact the Insurance Licensing Commission in your state and report this so they can hold them accountable for their lack of even attempting to make this right for you and you can almost be certain that this isn't only happening to you guys but to many others as well. There are laws which protect people from this kind of bs and IMO it is now time for you to begin taking legal actions against this insurance agency. This makes my blood boil and realizing how many more people who are going through this in your area could be phenomenal and knowing that they like yourself have no idea what to do about this. Insurance companies' prey on people when something like this happens and they do so because they think that most people have no idea what to do about it and will accept any amount of money they are offered without question, and this will continue to happen to others until someone decides to take a stand to fight them. Your entire roof needs to be replaced. I can’t believe the insurance can’t seem that you need a complete new roof. I’ve had 2 new roofs on my house in 30 years. No problems from my insurance company. The whole roof was replaced. On your roof not only shingles need to be replaced. But the plywood in area where the tree came through. Sorry y’all are going through this mess.

Yep and they have access to some guys who can get it doen for cash. They need to ask the guys who took down that tree next to the driveway. They'll get a better job done and lower cost too.

you prob have full replacement cost roof coverage....some folks only have depreciated cost roof coverage. And then deductible kicks in. So it may cost 15k to replace a roof, but if the roof being replaced is 10 years old, insurance co will only pay 1/3 of cost less deductible if depreciated cost coverage is in place.

Oh my! I was so nervous watching Buddy, even my hands were sweating 😂 I'm so sorry it has taken so long to get your roof fixed. We need ours fixed because of hail damage and some damage in attic. But when you need $8 to $10,000 and that's hoping insurance will cover some of it. Homeownership comes with expenses. Praying it doesn't take much longer, for either of us to have a much needed new roof.

Here in Florida a neighbor had a tree fall on their house and it took almost a year for it to be fixed. Hope you get yours fixed a lot sooner

Here in California, a huge redwood tree fell on my daughter's roof and she waited over 2 years on repairs to the roof and the inside of her house. Her family wasn't able to live in the house while it was beiing worked on either.😫

That’s the house I grew up in my parents, put in a attic fan. Many years later the roof needed to be replaced, the roofing company decided to remove our attic fan and just put the ridge vent up, which would’ve been fine but it wasn’t enough we had to go and re-install another attic fan.

I had friends whose house was 30 to 40yrs old. It was overly insulated in the summer the walls in the closets sweated Prayers for safety and roofing concerns to be resolved❤

Yup, When I could win in discussions with my husband, we had the roof done professionally. They can clear the old and have a new roof on in less than 5 hours. They have the tools and all the good tricks that give you a great roof.

I am so sorry you are going through this, but I know EXACTLY what you are going thru. I went through the very same thing with our insurance company and lost! We had to put the roof on ourselves just so that we didn't have any further damage in the house. Please don't give up, get an attorney or someone to help and don't settle for anything less that a brand new roof, all of it not just patches. I will say some prayers for you guys and hope it ends soon.

What kind of insurance do you have that they are taking so long? The second to last hurricane we had FEMA came out & tarped all of the houses with roof damage until they could be repaired. Here in south Louisiana the insurance company I had cancelled all policies as the hurricane was approaching leaving all to scramble for coverage. My damage has never been fixed & continues to worsen each storm. I pray 🙏 ya'll get yours repaired soon & it be a top notch job because what you have up there now is very shoddy work, very shoddy. 🙏💪❤

Our claims adjuster was wonderful, when one of our huge twin oaks broke about 12ft from the ground and landed on the edge of our house, broke our fence and poked through our roof also!! He came out, looked it over and wrote out a check on the spot and told us this should get you started, and let us know when you get the final estimates!!! It was due to straight-line winds.

I had the same thing happen to me. My roof was damaged by a storm in June, and I had 3 adjusters come out and finally insurance has stepped up although not the full amount. Good Luck!!

Praying for some fair resolve. Covered air peaks worst enemy......covered dryer vent...shame on them. I live in central Texas. New home. Severe damage from hail. I showed the report to the roofer and he went into action. Pictures of my roof and gutters. He got the coverage plus gutters! Pictures say a lot. They count whole damage within an areas. What good is having insurance when they treat you like this. The emergency tarp company that your insurance company hired caused more damage and both should and need to be held accountable for their lack of concern with the possibility of black mold. Maybe get a local building inspector to also come out and inspect the attic for your family safety and having clean inside air to breathe without mold issues in the future. You've been dealing with this for way too long. I know that you may want to go with shingles, but think about possibly having a metal roof put on.

Years ago when I got hurt in a car accident (not my fault) the insurance company fought me tooth and nail about everything. I ended up with 3 spine surgeries and it was such a pain in the butt to get taken care of. Getting my car fixed was a mess too. Once the claim was open and things were moving I switched companies and since I’ve had them with zero issues.
