Good video, I might consider the aftermarket batteries. Ego has priced themselves out of me staying with them with the price of their batteries. The price of the ego batteries was about to drive me back to all gas equipment. I have been using ego since 2019 and have one 7.5 amp and three 5 amp battery’s that do not last long at all anymore.

Yep! I got the 650 blower with a 5 AH battery for $195 on a sale. Wasn't shopping for a blower, my old one still worked, I just wanted a 5AH battery, which at the time was over $225. EGO prices fluctuate A LOT on Amazon.

I have an Ego push mower (not self-propelled) with a factory 5Ah battery. I just bought the Waitley to compare. I can usually just barely finish my 4000sf lawn on a single charge with the original. I tried the Waitley and was able to do the same. Having 2 5Ah batteries will definitely help when I'm doing an HOC reset or when I'm doing a full day of yard work. My only complaint so far is that the fan doesn't shut off when the Waitley is finished charging. Not a big deal at all though.

When you can buy 30 amp hrs for the of 12, it's a no brainer. I have 3 ego batteries, 4, 5, and 7.5 and I'm looking for a few more. I'm going to try one, and if it works out, by more. The Ego batteries are just to expensive for what they are. The Ego lawnmower and chainsaws I own are great though.

Wondering why not compare the ego 5 amp battery (often in the ego kit) and the aftermarket 5 amp - comparing apples to apples. Also for the 765 blow - it’s heavy enough for car drying /detailing. The 12 amp would be super heavy !! Thanks. Owen from Atlanta

I bought the Ego string trimmer and blower for farm use keeping weeds trimmed under electric fences. The batteries run down too soon. The batteries also weakened after a season and quit working after another season. Replacement batteries cost too much. I wish I had never got into Ego. I had to buy a new gas trimmer to get any work done. Ego is for domestic yard use only in my opinion and if you have a large perimeter to trim you might as well accept the fact that you will need a spare battery.

It is all about the longevity of the battery. I’d be P+xssed if I purchased a 300.00 battery and it only lasted two years. I have several ego products and the batteries lasted about seven years. I don’t use them for very long when I use them but , still, that’s pretty good, especially when I use two batteries for about five separate tools. It’s “game over” if they can reliably make a battery that lasts seven years or more. Many people don’t get that kind of performance, however.

I went all in on EGO 3 ish years ago. Bought the best mower, snow blower, string trimmer, edger and leaf blower they had in 2021. Have 2 10ah batteries, a 7.5ah and a 2.5ah. All genuine ego batteries and all suffering from some major malfunctions / loss of usability. I intentionally bought four of the lowest charge rate chargers that ego makes and the batteries are still all pretty much useless at this point. My corner lot is between 1/8 and 1/4 acre and my push mower, not using any of the self propelled feature, can barely get through the entire yard using all 4 batteries. Love the equipment, the batteries are worthless. I knew this was a possibility going in, just surprised it happened so quickly. Now I’m just trying to decide if I switch all together and buy new equipment, buy replacement ego batteries, or split the difference and go with knock off batteries.

Amp Hour rating only affects run time, not "performance". You could've run a 2.5 AH battery against the 12 and not seen much of a difference in blowing force. Buying batteries with the tools is usually the cheapest way to buy them, (although that doesn't make sense with high ticket items (riding mowers, etc.). I wanted to get a 5 AH battery for my 5 year old blower. The 2.5 battery it came with still worked but started to have a really short run time. 5 AH batteries at the time were over $225 on Amazon and then I found a deal for a 650 blower w/5AH battery and charger for $195.
@maximusmagni1
@maximusmagni1 3 ай бұрын
You have zero clue about what you are talking about. A battery that is 4x as big doesn't just have 4x the runtime, it has 4x the max power. Many tools may not be able to use that power, but some can. If you put those 2.5 Ah batteries in a snow blower, pressure washer, or mower, you will not get full performance.
@denoftools
@denoftools 3 ай бұрын
Most brushless tools have the ability to "dip deeper" into larger batteries and provide more power. It's a fairly well documented fact.

@@maximusmagni1 Of course a 2.5 AH battery isn't going to work well in a snow blower or lawn mower as it would be depleted very quickly. And a battery that's rapidly dying or almost dead isn't going to provide "full performance". That's just common sense.

I didn't get anything out of this. Ego sells products with the size battery that's best for the average user. Going a little larger or smaller is personal preference. Comparing one battery to another that has 2.5 times the size of the recommended one is ridicules. 56 volts is 56 volts. The blower's motor requires so many watts to operate. If battery voltage drops below full capacity, the motor will draw more current (amps) and then shut down. The question is how does the Waitley 5 amp hour battery pack do vs the OEM Battery of the same size? Is it really a 5 amp hour battery? Will it last more than a year? 5 amp hour batteries don't give more or less power to equipment than 2.5, 7.5, 10 or any other sized battery. The amp hour rating is to indicate how long a battery will last on a single charge. The motor size in each piece of equipment determines how long a battery will last on a charge.

Most people kill their rechargeable batteries by charging them fully then storing them charged. This is a death sentence for batteries. About 60% charge is ideal because the reduced charge potential does cause as much permanent damage as power leaks.
