How do I control the size of my chart? Let's say I want the overall donut to be 40px? Can that be done? And what about resizing the entire donut after you've created it? Thanks! Great tutorial!
@TheDesignNinja7 жыл бұрын
Hey Wendy, thank you! If you're resizing down all you should need to do is use the Transform panel and type in the new measurement-don't forget that you can convert between measurements by typing in, px, pt, pc, cm or mm after the numbers. Things to look out for: make sure that the transformation point is the centre, ideally and make sure that constrain proportions is enabled (looks like a chain link). Scaling up can be a little trickier, and you're best using the Scale Tool to do that. Hope that answers your question, and really glad you enjoyed the tutorial-if you're not already, be sure to subscribe for more and spread the word!

Is there any way you can share with me a sketch of what it is you'd like to achieve just so that I can be certain? @TheDesignNinja5 жыл бұрын
Hey. Build your key shape as the clipping mask before applying it to the chart, and also any other art you need to show through the clipping mask needs to be in place first. Hope that makes sense. This may be a fun tut to make-I may do it this week. :)
@TheDesignNinja5 жыл бұрын
Just a thought-I may have misunderstood-did you mean a Legend?
@mrlborges5 жыл бұрын
@@TheDesignNinja yes I meant a legend explaing what the colors in the graph mean.
@TheDesignNinja5 жыл бұрын
Thought so. The easiest way to do this is usually to make the legend separately, but if you want it to be the generated legend than there is a way: 1. Make sure the legend is where you want it to be (you can move it with the Group Selection Tool) then draw a rectangle over it, which will form one part of your mask. 2. draw the circles you will use to create the doughnut. 3. Select the inner circle and cut it to the clipboard. 4. Select the rectangle and the outer circle and turn them into a compound path (CMD-8 or CTRL-8). 5. Double-click the compound shape to isolate it and then use the Paste in Place command to paste in the circle. 6. Exit isolation mode, select the shape and your chart, then use CMD-7 (CTRL-7 on Windows) to create the clipping mask. :)

Hey Angel. You need to hold down the SHIFT key and tap M to access the Shape Builder Tool-if it is different in your region, the easiest way to find out is to go to the tool in the toolbox and hover over it's icon, then the shortcut will be shown as a tooltip. Could you show how you might subdivide one of the arc colours into a given number of equal parts please?
@TheDesignNinja7 жыл бұрын
Hey. The pie will divide according to the numbers input into the data fields, either as numbers or percentages. If you want to see divisions in a block and have those all the same colour, then leave the strokes intact on the pie chart. Hope that helps!
@gabrielrml7 жыл бұрын
I haven't made myself clear . Imagine one of the data sets - lets say the red arch, subdivided into say 6 equal parts while the others remain as shown. Is this done at the data input level and if so how? Or is there a quick and and way to subdivide an arch in Illustrator?
@TheDesignNinja7 жыл бұрын
Hey Gabriel-if you want to keep the data live, you'd do this at the data input level. Let's say that in the case of the example used on the poster for this movie, the total for the red area was 60, the orange area 25 and the yellow area was 15; you'd divide the 60 by 6, giving each segment a value of 10. Hope that helps.
@gabrielrml7 жыл бұрын
OK one more try - lets say the red area was 60 as you indicated - the 60 was made up 20%a, 10%b, 50%c, and 20%d - for example (appreciate these are not equal I just used equal amounts to illustrate the point - hope this is clear now. There would be 4 SUBDIVISIONS totalling 100% which accounted for the 60 part in the whole chart.Thanks for your help though.
