Tom, I like this new style/playlist of "what I love" as it gets us out of the cult of the new and back to older games that deserve time back in the sun. Look forward to watching the others in the series.

Really enjoying the "Best of..." and "Why I love..." series, Tom. Whether I'm agreeing your opinion or not, I always enjoy your passion for games! :D Also like the view of a different section of shelves. Thunder Alley!

I finally got a copy of Kemet and played it with my 7 and 9 year old kids. It was a huge hit. I love the game. Instantly got to my top 5.

My favourite dudes on the map game. Got all expansions, 3d printed obelisks, 3d printed fast setup tiles. :) Cannot wait for the kickstarter in few weeks to see what new things it will bring :)

Hey Tom, I just got to play this game recently. I really love it. How do you think this game holds up to all the bright and shiny games of today? I was lucky to find a copy of the base game online.

My Kemet experience - id not played games since high school (except for the occasional Phase 10 with the family - barf) and that was around 25+ years ago. We used to play Hero Quest, Conquest of the Empire and the like. Anyway, I wanted to get back Into board games and so found a local MeetUp group. On my first arrival there they had Kemet laid out in the table and I remember thinking, "oh crap, this is one of those 8 hour long confusing as Hell games". I'd only expected to be introduced to some of the newer, funnier games...not five head first into some 9 month long campaign!!! I sat down at any rate and four of us dove in. I was amazed at the combat and the tiles were extremely easy to understand (thanks reference guide! - it comes with the game). Before I knew it we had played a seemingly long, confusing looking game in no time and with very little learning curve. I ended up playing it two more times in the weeks that followed and after buying it the GF and I played several more. To this day it's one of our top five. On a side note I also got Cry Havoc as Tom suggested ("very Kemet like") and it too is a good one. If you don't have Kemet, get it.

Hey! Im a player with 7 Wonders, Zombicide, Terra Mystica, Smallworld, Twilight Struggle and some other games in the collection. I liked both Kemet and Arcadia Quest... which one should i choose?

For the battle cards, you have to throw one away. But aren't these closed? So your enemies don't know exactly what you have left.

This has to be the main benefit for sure. If you explain it this way, I think new players get it too.

The game says you can play face up or hidden, just decide together at the start.

This game is great. My only complaint, the amount of tiles, you always have to refer to what they do, as they symbols can be a little confusing. I made copies of the little booklet with the descriptions of all the tiles for everyone and it made it much easier for everyone to see what tiles to choose from rather than passing the booklet around to everyone every turn. Otherwise, awesome game! One of my favorites

Kemet is a game that should be good, but it sucks. Dry action. Sorta lame, like half a game.
