All the glue acetone swirl patterns I do turn out great. But a few weeks later the clear solid lines fade into a blurry fuzz. Using pro chem mixed with acetone. On mostly Star plastic. Get vivid colors with sharp detail that blurs over time
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt Жыл бұрын
Yeah, all beauty fades unfortunately. It's much quicker with the star-like plastics for sure. I've come back at several discs years later for a second round of funking them up over the old faded dye.

Thanks so much TDIDI and Chris for sharing these awesome tips. My only (super basic) question - how do you mix your dyes for this method?
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt2 жыл бұрын
The powdered dye is mixed with some acetone. The other option is you could use some Worm Dip that's premixed and set to jet straight from the bottle.
@samuelpierce76642 жыл бұрын
@@TheDifferenceisDoingIt cool. We've been doing acetone or isopropyl but finding that acetone definitely dissolves better! Can't get unscented in worm dip here in Australia it seems :( or not commonly. Thanks for sharing so many cool dyes!

Such amazing results! I've just discovered the world of dyeing your own discs and looking for days to do it. This definitely is a top tier design! What kind of glue is that you're using as the bed? Is it some kind of base glue without the "activator" or the "hardener" so it doesn't stiffen up? Oh and what is the liquid you have mixed the dyes with? Is it just water? Best regards from Finland 8)
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt Жыл бұрын
Hey now Qashew! Sorry, this one slipped by me for a bit. The glue used in the bed is just regular clear glue. The glue doesn't harden after you stick the disc in because it's no longer in contact with the air. Some of it hardens around the edges, but the stuff underneath with the dye on top doesn't. The dye is mixed with 100% acetone. Usually 1/4 tsp of the powder dye to 1 oz of acetone (scale up as needed) is a good mix. Hope all that helps bud, have fun!

So great! Thanks for setting these up! Any suggestions for a close colour replacement for the pumpkin worm dip? It's hard to get Quick Coat in Canada.
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt2 жыл бұрын
I'm not the best with color questions, don't see them so good. But if I were trying to mix some up I'd probably start with orange and gradually sprinkle in some brown until looked close,

Such amazing results!! This dude is a great inspiration! Do you think it gives the same nice results if you substitute pumpkin for pro’s clear orange?
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt2 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more, Chris is the man! Not sure if it would be as close to wood grain with orange, but plenty close to awesome. I say go for it!

Hi! I love this! What medium are you mixing your dyes in? I see it's very thin. Curious if it's acetone? I've been using shaving cream and lotion only
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt2 жыл бұрын
You guessed it, Michelle. Most all of the dyes he's dipping into the bed are mixed with acetone.

Awesome tutorial, once again! I'm still trying to figure out, how to be able to blow, in this case, the black dye so easilly to smaller strips. Do I need to thin out the glue or something else?

when i try this, my black constantly spreads out, it doesnt stay as nice thin lines like they do in the video... it all just constantly spreads... how do i stop that?
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt2 жыл бұрын
First make sure your workspace is level, it makes a big difference especially with clear glue beds. Second, I would say once you blow the black into a thinner line move quick with adding the next color to the bed, it should hold it in place. Hope that helps bud.
