Fees will always increase. Everyone should be rejoicing that the increase is so nominal after 15 years. These people won't shell out 5 more dollars to the PDGA but are dropping 20 a month as a jomez patreon.

No issues ... with the PDGA fee increases. Hasn't increased for over 15 years ... which is a pretty rare statement to make tbh, can't think of too many things in life you can say that about. Also really looking forward to the Tour Down Under season in New Zealand. Will be awesome to have some quality off-season coverage!

I started playing DG in the late 80's and joined the pdga in the early 90's. by the late 90's as a touring pro they handed me a perma ban for making pot stamped discs. shortly after the ban was rescinded, but i refuse to give them any money. league play is more fun and with DG being available in so many more places than it was in the 90's, there is much more competition at the lower levels. the pdga is a gong show that has a complete stranglehold over the sport. its the main reason why the sport has yet to become mainstream.

I’m only a PDGA member so that I can run a PDGA League cause many players out here want ratings. It would be really interesting if another company tried to compete with ratings, looking at you UDisc as soon as UDisc can help collect and distribute money for things like an ace pot or CTP then maybe that value would outweigh other value in getting from PDga

Lots of good points for and against. Bottom line, if you love the pro side of things and love to compete and be measured against others, support the PDGA. If you love getting outdoors with family and friends to enjoy quality time together while tossing plastic thru the woods and fields, not much need. No governing body is going to be perfect and it seems to me they do at least listen if not act on every whim of the members (also understandable). I’m joining to be a part of sanctioned play and to support the pro tour. I will also support the pro tour by buying discs and merchandise that support the players, attend events and spend money while I’m there. That’s my approach. Yours should be what makes you happy as well. Just be positive and don’t disparage others who do it differently. Got enough of that bullshit going on already.

International (nz) PDGA sanctioned tournaments are cheap to run $75usd all up, no additional players fee to PDGA but there is a fee to have it on NZDG tour ($5nzd) , but players seem to be happy to pay $150-$200nzd to play larger tournaments?

I run tournaments. Generally stay quiet on the topic. But whoever said we should be taxed - technically, we are supposed to be whether we like it or not. Entry fees are subject to sales tax in most states, first of all. So I can all but guarantee you aren't paying that even though you are probably required to if your state has a sales tax. Then if we don't have a business license, that means we don't have a resale certificate, and that means we have to pay sales tax on our orders from the disc companies (this is unavoidable unless you have a valid resale certificate). Whether we're incorporated or not, we are also supposed to pay income tax, including the 15.7% federal self employment tax, on any profits. To be clear, this is not a proposal; this is the CURRENT legal requirement. You guys truly have no idea how many TDs are just dropping so many legal balls, and there is a less than zero chance this sport becomes mainstream until we start paying our fucking taxes.

Players packs are an obvious conflict of interest socioeconomic gain for the disc companies and special interest pdga staff that get kickbacks. For the rest of the sport, it socioeconomically keeps out the undesired folks through decades of systemic racism.

Tell us you don't understand inflation without telling us you don't understand inflation. Name one thing since 2007 that hasn't gone up in price at least 25%. Everyone whining about paying one extra dollar? Get real. The sport continues to grow. More tournaments means an increase in insurance fees for the PDGA. The money has to come from somewhere. And seriously, nobody has a problem shelling out more money for the newest release discs or mystery boxes etc etc. So what really is the big deal about a $1 increase? As for the non-PDGA member fee increase of $5 to play in a sanctioned tournament, is that really a big deal? It actually just makes it more worthwhile to become a PDGA member if you're going to enter into 4 sanctioned tournaments. The funniest thing is that most of the people complaining will never become PDGA members anyways. They just want to come online and complain about it just like the free UDisc users who complain about that price increase. If you don't want to grow the sport, then don't. But don't complain about increases that don't affect you anyways. It seems there are a heck of a lot of cheap, bitter disc golfers out there who have no clue what level of effort and commitment goes into regulating the sport (PDGA) and providing user data for free to get new courses installed (UDisc). Oddly enough, the same internet that unaffected disc golfers can use to post their "grievances" also provides education on where these monies get allocated. I guess, like paying into growing the sport, that's just too much work for them
