To avoid the frustration, don't pre soak the twine in glue water mixture. Just soak the first few inches.. then twine the ball, Then, apply the glue with a brush. Less messy and easier to wrap. Have a great day!

Awesome. I was just trying to figure a way to make use of broken mirrors and I thought of this project. I was thinking if I can create a string globe and afterwards hot glue some glass shards to cast some light around it might almost give the area a chandelier effect.

Rhoda Bruce That’s a great idea and I just happen to have broken a 5 foot tall mirror that goes on the back of a door bedroom and it’s all in one piece except for the top foot part so I didn’t want to throw it away I wanted to do something with it and I think you just gave me an excellent idea. thank you!

I love this tutorial & you had me laughing with the line “he saw what happened to his brother’s” & when u added the heartbreaking words, sad song & slow motioned your dog sadly watching you pop those lovely balls 🤣 Btw I’m a former teacher & years ago I had an Asian mother show my class how to make Christmas ornaments very much like this, but of course ornaments for a tree aren’t as heavy. So; we used yarn, (round) ballon’s blown up small & medium sized & glue & we created these beautiful ornaments & then some students chose to roll the ballon with yarn around it soaked in glue into glitter. Others waited a few days & chose to paint the dry glued yarn ornaments with craft paint. I personally took mine home & spray painted my smaller sized ones with glitter white & my medium sized ones with bronze gold & they were beautiful on my tree for a few years. I believe they could have lasted longer, but as they were stored each year after Christmas apparently some were getting crushed & the shapes became very distorted. I’ve now learned to tell other’s to be sure to store them in a box or plastic container with only the yarn ornaments so nothing else will crush or squeeze them 😉

Hey sweety that was the best video on the topic actually ✌️ and my hubby also encourages me for my art projects 😍 he's a darling. Can I use thin consistency cement or plaster of paris, instead of glue. Actually I don't have glue right now, and I can't wait 😂 Just wondering why didn't you deflate the ball instead of puncturing it... Pls guide me about the cement option. I'm waiting. Much love 🌸

Creating a lamp and glue from just a rope and balloon can indeed be a simple and creative project. Here's how you can do it: Materials Needed: Rope (preferably cotton or jute rope) Balloon LED light bulb or lamp kit (optional) Glue (for making glue from rope) Scissors Paint (optional) Paintbrush (optional) Steps: 1. Making Glue from Rope: Cut the rope into small pieces and place them in a container. Add enough water to cover the rope pieces. Let the rope soak in water for at least 12 hours or overnight. After soaking, blend or mash the rope pieces until they form a thick, sticky paste. This paste will act as glue for your project. 2. Creating the Lampshade: Inflate the balloon to the size you want for your lampshade. Keep in mind the size of your LED light bulb or lamp kit. Dip the rope pieces into the homemade glue and start wrapping them around the balloon. Make sure to overlap the rope pieces to create a sturdy structure. Continue wrapping the rope around the balloon until you achieve the desired shape and thickness for your lampshade. Leave a small opening at the bottom for inserting the LED light bulb or lamp kit. 3. Letting it Dry: Hang the balloon with the wrapped rope in a well-ventilated area to dry completely. This may take 24-48 hours, depending on the thickness of the rope and the humidity levels. 4. Adding Optional Decorations: Once the rope lampshade is completely dry, you can paint it with acrylic paint if you want to add color or decorative patterns. Let the paint dry completely before moving on to the next step. 5. Deflating and Removing the Balloon: Once the rope lampshade is fully dried and any paint is dry, carefully deflate the balloon and remove it from inside the lampshade. You may need to pop the balloon and peel it away from the inside of the lampshade. 6. Installing the Light Source: Insert the LED light bulb or lamp kit into the opening at the bottom of the lampshade. If you're using a lamp kit, follow the manufacturer's instructions for assembly and wiring. 7. Hanging or Placing the Lamp: Hang the lampshade from a ceiling hook or place it on a lamp base, depending on your preference. 8. Enjoy Your Rope Lamp! Turn on the light and admire your handmade rope lamp! Adjust the placement and brightness of the light to create the desired ambiance in your space. This project offers a simple and rustic way to create a unique lampshade using just a rope and balloon. Feel free to customize it with different rope thicknesses, colors, or shapes to suit your style preferences.

It’s not easy! You’re not doing anything wrong. The string does fall off and frustrates the crap out of you but just keep wrapping the string around. I saw a lady fill a mason jar with the glue solution and put a hole in the top to feed the piece of string through. One of my biggest issues was getting the string all saturated and not being able to keep it taught enough to stay on, especially in the beginning! If you have a hole that feeds the string through as you work, I think it would have helped me. With so many DIY’s, everything seems to look like it’s ugly but you just have to trust the process.
