I just did some renos on my main floor and have ordered some fabric for a slipcover for a comfy chair whose upholstery is tattered. I'm going with the sheet version first time around. Thanks for a clear video instruction.

TIP....For washable slip covers, consider sewing rod pockets for 1/2 pvc pipe. Cut the pipe to length, slide pipe inside the pocket, wedge the rod pocket into the crevice between cushions. It will keep the fabric smooth and taut and help prevent the fabric from sliding around. Remove the pipe for laundry day. The same concept can be applied at the bottom hem of a fabric panel. Most upholstered furniture is constructed on a wooden frame. Screw small eye bolts to the inside of the frame. Plan ahead for your rod pocket so you can wrap fabric around the bottom edge of your furniture to the inside of the frame. Anchor either end of the pvc pipe by sliding it inside the eye bolts as you would do to hang a curtain rod. Use velcro or pins to hold any lose bits of cloth in place at odd corners. Consider making the slip cover in a few separate sections instead of one large piece. For example, it may be simpler to make separate covers for each arm, one for the back, and another for the seat and front skirt. I slipcovered an upholstered waterbed with this method, separate covers for each side rail, one for the headboard and another for the footboard. If making a cover in separate sections, you can overlap fabric to avoid unsightly gaps. 1/2 inch pvc pipe is flexible enough to make for easier handling but also rigid enough to hold fabric even and smooth.

Could you use pool noodles instead of PVC pipes? I was thinking of splitting thr pool noodles in half and then stuffing them in the creases of the chair.

Nice! Maybe you could make a video. Or take a few pics of your work and create a video of the pics and post it on KZbin.

I made chair covers last year. I made mine out of paint drop cloths from Lowe’s. I used Velcro on the back middle and also added it on the cushions. I just rapped the cloth around the cushion and pinned everything on backwards and then you can take them off and wash them and put them right back on. I love my covers!! ❤️❤️ great video!

Thanks so much. I am just getting ready to do a slip cover for my Stockholm leather couch. I am using canvas drop cloth that I will wash and maybe bleach a bit for a lighter look. It's very cost effective and durable. There are many videos here on YT about using drop cloths.

Thank you for your quality tutorial, I loved it. 5 years ago I bought myself a very cheap slipcover from ikea. It is to big for my chair so I have to adjust it. It's the first time I'm going to try to make it fit. I'm going to try to see it as an adventure. Please wish me luck 😀🤣

I have cut out the pieces for a slipcover for my sofa. I’m just hesitant to sew since been so long. Can you make a slipcover for a recliner? I would love a tutorial on that!!

You may be able to use this technique with a recliner however I think you'd have to add in a bit of extra fabric in the crevices so it reclines properly :)
