What a fascinating interview and even more relevant in light of Russia’s war in Ukraine. Extraordinary talent, charisma, charm, and stage presence. Such a loss for the world of opera, lovers of classical music, his colleagues, and his family and friends. He’s certainly the best baritone I’ve heard in my 61 years on earth. He’s an unparalleled performer whose brilliance and beautiful spirit we’ve missed so much since his death. Thanks for posting this interview. And his English was impressive.

What a lovely interview this is. I have listened to it a few times before but today felt unwanted to say something about it. Such a lovely human being. If only all mankind were like this we would be a lovely species. There isn’t a gram of arrogance in him. I feel very sad that he is no longer with us for all our benefits 💔💔💔💔💔

Lovely and warm interview. Dmitri is good-natured (lovely laugh) and gets to calmly tell about himself and answer the interviewer's questions. For that, thanks to the interviewer. In many ways, Dmitri Alexandrovitch was an extraordinary person and singer, the best baritone.

'In order to sing, you have to fly' -- I knew as a very young child I could and wanted to sing, but I was both shy and my mother, who was mentally ill, said it was forbidden for me to sing. It was only in my 30s that I dared break free in that way, take some lessons just to free the tight constriction of fear, and only a few times did it work. But without proper training I was not as good as I could have been. The few times I did 'fly' [and it was like flying, it was such freedom and such joy when it was free -- you know when it's good, and just those few times it was good because I got out of my own way, away from the fear. And the audience was with me then, it was a joining together, and with no fear, but such joy. I am sad I never was allowed the training that might have led to being a singer when I was young. And could only overcome the fear occasionally later. Still, it is the most wonderful thing. Dmitri is easily the best singer I have ever heard because what he can do, his gift, is like no other.

My eart was broken when he left us now is broken again when I found out that he was place in an hospice to die why? He should died with his family around and at his house that’s the way he deserved to end his life. He gave us so much love and happiness singing for us Remember thinking “he is sick and people keep asking for more and he deserved never said no. What a sad end for this beautiful soul. I also ask myself what happens with his parents? They are very old. I hope they will be more compassionately them. Sorry but I’m so sad and mad. Dimitri RIP. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

@@maypavlidou6789Wow, your post shows, beyond a doubt he was so very considerate however, I think (in hind sight) the family, IMO, should've researched the origins of his brain tumor and maybe holistically helped heal him, all that said, maybe he wanted to fly with White Cranes ❤🙏 it was Dmitri singing that ZRUVLI Crane song that was the first video that I discovered this loving great Dmitri Hvorostovsky ❤ and after that, a great fan. I already own 3 of his 💿's and watch his videos every day on KZbin. Oh, by the way his Dad had a beautiful voice too👍

I liked the interview, but what a bit disappointed he was not asked anything about his connection with Finnish singers, especially Karita Mattila. Did the interviewer know that he and Karita had both been winners in the Cardiff Singer of the World competition. In 1983, Mattila won the first Cardiff Singer of the World competition. Dimitri Hvorostovsky won the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition in 1989 . There is a cute video of them singing together in Cardiff in 1989. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYa7maKmadxngsk

@@user-rx3zq8mx8q Tatyana, thanks for tabulating the questions. I like when he said "I workout, especially I'm a singer" I feel every body has to "workout and move" stay fit etc. Dmitri proved it, but towards the end, getting that brain tumor? I wonder aloud? Was any autopsy done to really find out? Was their some medication 💊 that started his 2 yr long brain cancer? Same thing happened to Muhammad Ali. A thyroid medication that weakened Ali before his fight with Larry Holmes? Just sayin' ?
