I knew, in the back of my mind, that I should have looked this up here FIRST instead of googling how to remove a heroclix figure from its base. Read on the forums multiple methods, then tried to use acetone, then tried the freezer method, three hours later and frustrated that I only got two figures removed from their bases, then BAM! DM Scotty with a 10 second solution on how to do that. The Force is with me, but I still have much to learn from the Crafting Jedi Master...

These are the majority of the figures I use in our games. Heroclix, Horrorclix, and old school Mageknight are awesome. Painting the bottom is slick, so simple.... Great job, as always.

Great idea. You can't even tell the base is a washer. It's amazing how hot glue blends it all together.
@theDMsCraft8 жыл бұрын
I agree, hot glue is so versatile.

I thought about using old slammers and pogs for bases but I like your idea a lot better. Great tip. I love mini scale and use them in my HO scale fantasy builds. Now I have a way to inlay the figures better into the base of my layout and landscaping. You could also use the Textured spray paints from home depot or spray on bedliner. I also was thinking about making a double base with multiple figures on it. :D

Thanks Scott! I have designed a Batman detective game. It was a lot of work and time to my wife's dismay. I definitely don't want to paint those DC miniatures at this point and had really hard time getting a straight answer about the size of those Heroclix dials online. You definitely gave me some ideas.

I did a similar project a few months ago for my Lord of the Rings Risk: Trilogy Edition game... I needed custom LotR leaders for the game and stumbled across the Heroclix minis... like you, I needed to get rid of those Heroclix bases (before I saw this video)... I came up with the following tools: 1) Exacto Blade Knife, 2) 7/8" mini poker chips, 3) Gorilla Gel Glue... I used colored mini poker chips that matched the leaders to their armies (red poker chips for the red army leaders, etc)... so I didn't do the build up and repaint as you did in this video, but I thought the mini poker chips looked real classy with the Heroclix minis as they matched the armies they were for and worked great as bases (much like your washers).

Awesome as always! My personal preference is WH40k bases, but I get that they are nowhere as economical as washers.
@theDMsCraft8 жыл бұрын
So true...another thing I like is the washer tends to give some weight to the base.

By the way I've found if you put a small piece of painters tape on the bottom of the washer you don't have to worry about where you do your gluing at and removing the painters tape or just having a blue bottom is at your option.

Hmmmmm.....great idea. Think I'll use a different size washer for some of my smaller ww2 figures
@theDMsCraft8 жыл бұрын
I do that also for goblins and such...washers come in all sizes.

with sharp flat cutters like from GW you can cut the feet off of the kidney base and then glue them down to whatever. I use clear acrylic bases for PCs and important NPCs. I started using clix when I ran a superhero game and what better way to get superhero minis.

Thanks for the tips

Also a crafters knife does a better job separating the miniature from the base. A small drop of super glue and a normal black base from warhammer or whatever and boom new dnd mini :)
@Simoncressey998 жыл бұрын
I have a slightly better and safer way to remove them from the bases or disassemble them for painting if you put them in the freezer for a couple of hours the glue goes supper brittle and you can then with little effort remove them and you don't need any sharp tools this also works if you want to repaint them and you want to take them to bits to make it easer

great tip.

I can't part with the clix bases. I still quite delusional hope the mage knight will have its big come back one day. And i still Play Heroclix so i won't Change those bases. Still good idea though

Yep, if you ever think you may need the clix base don't remove it.
