Nice! I just received a .22 caliber Avenge X for review. Seems like a pretty nice gun so far. Looking forward to hopefully putting a Saber Tactical chassis on it and then doing some tests to see if it could have potential as a budget NRL22 rifle.

I'd be interested in seeing how it goes with the new H&N precision 33 gr slugs in .22 cal; those seem to fly extremely well :)

I have the .22 tube. the SabertTactical chassis is a must. The synthetic stock was impossible to get situated without cant in a clamp type tripod. Now have a ball turret on the tripod and it sits perfectly balanced and FLAT! Still looking for a slug that will work well though. Zan 23g .217 aren't really consistent. Not sure if it needs .218 or more barrell length and speed.

Thanks for explaining bounce in the comments below. Also, Steve does a great job with his avenge-X videos, but he doesn't walk through the steps you took to tighten up your shots (barrel band, baffle, barrel, etc.). That would be a very helpful video if someone hasn't already created it. One more thing...cheek riser on that stock? How did you do that?

Interesting video. Anyone looking to start long range air rifle shooting should not discount the gen 1 Avenger. It is more than capable if properly tuned. I have found the gen 1 .177 is capable of matching the performance of the .25 cal. Yep, hard to believe I know but true even at 200 yards.

Slugs look similar to nielsens specialty slugs . Have you ever tried them. Are they as good as NSA slugs

Nah I doubt in his whole 15 years of airgunin he's ever tried the Nielsens .

Nice shooting and adjustment for distance, etc. What do you mean by Bounced it, is that your way to say pulled it. That budget friendly rifle pretty impressive. Thanks.

By bounce, I mean I literally feel the gun bounce on the bipod. If I hold it too loose, that happens; it takes a firm (but not super strong) grip and trigger pull to avoid that bouncing. However when I hit a bit low on the 200 target, yes that was more pulling it than it was bouncing.

it depends on what you are going to be doing with it. My first air rifle was the JTS airacuda .22 standard unregulated. I can shoot less than 1 inch moa from 50 yards and get about 30 shots within about 40 fps. If you get something regulated you can get more shots tighter. I really want to like the avenge-x but from it's specs the more I watch it the more I feel like it falls short in the .25 caliber. I think the issue with the .25 is the hammer spring is too light for the .25 caliber it will really send .22 and the .177. I feel like they could have or should have made 2 versions one for .177/22 and one for .30/.35 and could have really had something pretty gnarly. I am personally looking at buying 2 umarex gauntlet 2 the newest revision with the side cocker that has fixed some of the issues the older bolt action had. I can get 2 gauntlet 2's one in .22 to plink with my airacuda. and one in.30 to do some coyote and ground hogging with. for roughly the same as getting one avenge x or zelos. the gauntlet 2 is pretty large and bulky. but it the weight should help with some accuracy things. If you are just target shooting, either of the 2 you mentioned will be just fine and FPE isn't as important but I like the idea of a budget air rifle like the gauntlet 2 being able to put out over 100 FPE thats getting close to .22LR numbers.

I purchased a .25 zelos last week and still haven't found the time to dial it in... the question was also influenced on the continuous avenge x videos... making me feel like I made the wrong choice for 100-150 yards varmit hunting... buttttt I think I just need to put my time in to the zelos and daily it in.

@MrBezzar depending on how good of a shot you are you should be fine. Depending on the varmit. It takes time. Read the forums. see what others are choosing for shot. I bought 15 tins of different stuff even though I did a fair bit of reading. I came to the conclusion most of the stated info was pretty honest about pellet or slugs that ran effectively.
