Lorraine, the best advice i can give you at this point in life is: Learn as you can about any genre of music. You may not like most of it, but there is a gem in almost every genre! Grew up with rock/punk-rock/rap, then was a metalhead, now i like almost every genre from classical to the hardest of metal you can find. It'll open your eyes and mind.
