Characters were drawn in krita at a canvas resolution of 128x72, weapons were modeled in blockbench, and the background was captured in gzdoom. some of the sound effects are from either halo CE or DOOM 3, and some are from community resourced versions of DOOM's original sound library, the rest were created or recorded in audacity. I used to have game dev classes in uni. Too bad we were the last people to ever have these classes. Because they were cut after we graduated. Not enough interest... Also lucky... You had someone there to talk with people about common gaming interests . My colleagues and the guy that took care of the classes (I refuse to call him a professor since he doesn't have a title. He doesn't deserve it to be called that way) were only goshing about newest unreal engine version which I have no interest at all

A lot of the top game developers are college dropouts, skipped formal schooling for practical game dev experience, and/or were modders. The ones all getting layed off in droves in the industry right now are cs majors who know how to be script kiddies in classrooms but not actually develop games with any significant talent or passion.

Oh man. I'm an entry level geezer now, I guess, but for about 18 months from late 1993 to 1995 or so, I did nothing but work, sleep, and play DOOM. These movies really capture the essence of the game, while telling a new story all their own. It's beautiful to see someone bring it all back to life so correctly, and do it with open source tools to boot. Obadiah, whatever you're doing, just keep doing it. It works!

GOD these animations are amazing. The fight scenes have amazing choreography, and there's so many details in even the small stuff that makes them worth watching again, like how in Part 3, the movement of the camera in Green's first person segment follows the Doomguy face animations in the HUD, plus the Cacodemon eye still looking around after death, and the half-melted metal grating, and the Doomguy-shaped indent in the wall. Not to mention the fact that these have slowly been getting longer each time, from 1 minute to nearly 3. Genuinely can't wait to see what happens in the next one. Maybe they get a visit from the Bruiser Brothers or a Cyberdemon in the next map? After all, everyone knows that you get a big resupply right before a boss fight... Either way, rip and tear 'til it's done!
