But if it wasn’t for this issue that is blown up out of proportion, ppl probably wouldn’t even think of associating the liquor’s name to the Malay female name. And we non-Malays don’t really joke about alcohol names because they’re not that funny anyway. For us, it’s just a name, which is Timah in this case, not Fatimah (if it’s Fatimah, then I’d agree with you that it’s insensitive too). The whole thing that is funny now is some politicians trying to make an issue out of nothing to appear like they are standing up for the Muslims, while discriminating against a business that is supposed to affect only non-Muslims. Honestly, there are more important issues affecting Muslims which need our leaders’ attention. @Yusuf Best Yes, i agree name is important. Literally, it's the meaning which is more important than the language. As for the whiskey's brand named "Timah", it just means tin. There's a meaning behind why it's named as such and has nothing to do with religion. Malaysia is a multi races country and BM is our national language. So, why can't it uses BM to show it's a Malaysian product? Also, it's an award winning whiskey, something which all Malaysian should be proud of, regardless of Muslim or non-Muslim.
