The Decline of Tiger Populations: Every Year

Tigers, or Panthera tigris, is the largest extant cat species in the world. Known for their striking orange fur and black stripes, they are territorial apex predators that prey on large animals.
They have become cultural symbols in many human societies around the world, but have also frequently clashed with humans by killing them or their livestock. Recently, tiger populations have been drastically reduced due to human destruction of habitat and overhunting.
Three, possibly four, of the nine major tiger populations are now extinct, and the remaining are all endangered.
This video will present the decline of tiger populations around the world from 1867 to the present.

The rapid, non-stop decline of Work species of tigers, especially the south Chinese tiger, and the awful extinction of others, has got to be one of the biggest tragedies to hit the animal kingdom in the previous 2 centuries. You can even tell when a country industrialised/when mass hunting was introduced. Truly saddening, but good job.

Awfully depressing. This species is absolutely amazing, proud to know that their numbers are rising in my country, however it is a shame that their numbers are so low despite being the national animal of my country. It's also sad that some subspecies are extinct, I hope other countries make the effort to help increase tiger populations. One last thing. Isn't the Caspian tiger extinct as well?

The tiger population in India has been going up steadily! The Bengal tiger has around 3000 animals left, Siberian probably second at around 500, 350 indochinese tigers (some in northeast India) and very small numbers of the rest.
