Read the book people! The Mill was being renovated by some visionanaries and they were seeking a tenant. French always portrays her father as so abusive but Erin is who she is because of the diner he purchased and the responsibilities he gave her. The man she married was clearly an alcoholic and 20 years her senior but she went with it. The cracks in the relationship were so obvious but they made her who she is.
