There was actually a significant controversy with claptrap’s voice actor from games as he volunteered work for free or something as he was the vice president of the company at the time I think, but when the third came along and he left the position they still refused to pay him for the third because the past agreements were still in effect or something. Overall it’s clear they were just hoping the celebrity cast would be better for getting more to watch.

Even if they weren't going to get a celebrity to voice Claptrap, they were never going to get the original actor after he had a falling out with Gearbox's CEO, Randy Pitchford.

And what's sad is Jack Black isn't even a bad voice actor, far from it. The problem is they clearly just threw him in for the star power and thought it would carry. That's the thing about acting, voice or otherwise; it's a two-way street. You need a good writer and director in order to maximize their potential. Even the best actors can fall prey to a bad script or mediocre direction.

Reasons why this pissed off Borderlands fans: - A game known for its gore and gunplay gets an adaptation rated PG-13 - Major characters like Brick, Mordecai, Dr. Zedd, and more are nowhere to be seen. - Lilith and Tannis are much younger than the actresses portraying them. - Roland is a serious character being portrayed by a goofy comedic actor. - Claptrap is made more annoying than he should be. - Lilith being a Siren was never a big twist; it's literally how she's introduced. - "Firehawk" isn't some prophesied being, it's just an alias Lilith used. - Lilith doesn't have her iconic siren tattoos. - They replaced Handsome Jack, one of gaming's most iconic villains, with a wannabe named Atlas. - Atlas isn't the name of a person, it's the name of a corporation. - Knoxx is a grizzled, cyborg, male general, not a 30-something henchwoman. - Tannis isn't a fighter and wouldn't tag along on an adventure like this. - Tiny Tina acts more like Gaige than Tiny Tina. - Roland isn't short, nor is he a punchline for short jokes. - Krieg is a funny and interesting character reduced down to a silent bodyguard. Did I miss any?

The Crow is a beloved early 90s movie which stars Brandon Lee who is the son of Bruce Lee. He unfortunately died during filming when one of the prop guns was loaded with an actual bullet. The movie was pretty much 95% percent done when he sadly died. There's been several remakes and sequels but as far as I know, none of them are loved like the early 90s one.

I've never played nor even seen gameplay of the games. But this feels Jem and the Holograms levels of poor adaptations. It feels like discount Guardians of the Galaxy.

From someone who hasn’t played them but knows of the games, this actually does look a lot like what I would think Borderlands would be. I am well aware it’s not, but Borderlands does have a goofy vibe from what I know of it and gives the impression of what a non-fan thinks the series is with only the bare minimum research.

Worst movie of the year is a triple threat between Borderlands, The Crow remake/reboot from this year, and Joker 2 with Madame Web as a honorable mention in my personal opinion.

“I don’t know what The Crow is.” Superhero movie series that recently had a reboot. The ironic thing is despite being a flop it’s still the second most well received in the series. They never could follow up the first film well since it had the entire comic story.

When a film is bad, the saving grace is often a memorably over-the-top villain played by an actor who knows the film sucks and just wants to have fun. So... where's Handsome Jack? I've never played the games, yet even I've heard of him, and he seems tailor made to make a bad movie rewatchable. And they couldn't even bother to write him in

The Crow is a cult classic action movie. The actor actually died filming it, but they were actually able to salvage it, and it was good. I recommend it.

I never played the games but oh boy, what everyone is saying about this film. It's weird, 20 years ago, it was mainly Mortal Kombat and maybe a few others that were of the select few game adaptations that was faithful to the games, but in this new era with Mario, Sonic, Pikachu and several others got beloved adaptations, we somehow got a few unfaithful stinkers. I swear, you this be something made back when horrible video game movies were far more common.

You said you played a bit of Borderlands 2, but you clearly didn’t go farther than the first map of borderlands 2 because a lot of things in this movie about Lillith, Tiny Tina, and the vault were revealed in Map 2 of that game. You should play borderlands on stream. Not only does twitch allow the game, despite it typically gory violent nature, newer games come with Twitch integrated features that allows your audience to participate.

The original crow from the 90s was amazing especially since due to a tragic accident the lead actor died and had to be brought back by CGI for a lot of the film

I'll be honest, I never heard of Borderlands (the game) before the first movie trailer dropped, but from what that trailer showed me, it was trying too hard to be another Guardians of the Galaxy or Suicide Squad. I didn't expect many people to see it, but I didn't think it would be considered one of the biggest bombs of the year.

I actually have a few Borderlands-Games in my Steam-Library. But never finished one of them. I actually wanted to watch this Movie until the Bad Reviews flooded the Internet with the claim ABSOLUTE WORST !
