Metroid has been around longer than Doom. It began as a side-scroller on the NES, became a masterpiece on the SNES with Super Metroid and became an FPS on the Gamecube with Metroid Prime 1 & 2.

Metroid is not only older than Doom, but it started an entire genre of games that are still famous today called Metroidvanias. Now he did show footage from the Metroid PRIME series which is an FPS spinoff but even that is all is has similar to Doom since the Prime series has actually overtaken the main series in popularity with it's 3D exploration and worldbuilding. It's like night and day at that point.

“What makes people play Metroid over, like, DOOM?” Apples and oranges. Metroid is a game about exploration first. Combat is more sparse than you’d think, more about dealing with the odd threat to ensure safe passage as you look for new places to go. You find those new places, you get upgrades that allow you to find more new places with even more upgrades. DOOM is fundamentally about its combat, with exploring for trinkets a secondary activity. (And Metroid at its best is wayyyyyyyyy better oh my god Metroid is good. Metroid is all about the vibes of exploration, feeling your way through these dangerous environments while so utterly and helplessly alone and Resident Evil ain’t got SHIT on Metroid’s atmosphere)

I grew up with the DS lite and Lego batman. My first new game system and one of my first games I got for Christmas when I was 10.

The amount of ds's i whent though is staggering.....It was 12 btw mostly me upgrade over the years but i never forgot that the postal service lost one of them getting sent to Nintendo to get the hinge fixed which they just super glued it back on btw 😂 but man i still have my 300 ds/3ds game collection to this day

There is a cheat code for 64DS using the Twilight Menu that remaps the analog stick to give it full control and not just replicate the D Pad

I used to have the red and black DS light... until my younger brother fucking chucked it at a wall and broke it, don't worry I falcon punched him in the gut for his actions (BTW this happened like round 9 almost 10 years ago)

You need to play the Phoenix wright games. There are currently 2 trilogies for the first 6 mainline and then the great ace attorney Chronicles is 2 games.

There's a gba game I remember playing on the DS. It was a sonic game with a partner system (Sonic Characters would team up and have different movesets) and I can't remember it's title for the life of me. Also Starfy was awesome.

I have had 4 different DS in my life, the one you had that was hacked and had like over 100 games(no idea how) my mother dropped it and broke it my second was the DS lite that had gameboy advanced support, broke when my mother dropped it and then finally the lite that did not have gameboy support so I could not play my Garfield and Chicken Little games, actual bummer, never broke still have it finally my 3DS that I only got to lay Tomodachi life (goated game)
