Just wanted to drop by and say thank you for such a wonderful review! You're the first person I've seen play through the game online and I'm so happy you are enjoying it. I know some people really enjoy the story and narrative focus of ttrpgs but i've always preferred the world building and sandbox approach which allows you to tailor everything with your own creativity. I made Wail in a way that would try to recapture the feeling of playing a sandbox game like Elder Scrolls for the first time. I'm also glad you liked the Mysteries supplement. Your bridge with the two undying knights is such a fantastic set piece! Once again thank you so much for the review and I'll definitely be watching through more of your content! (And to all of your fans who went and blew up my Etsy with orders which is how I found out about this video, I hope you enjoy Wail when it reaches you too!)

Nice! Glad you saw the Dungeon Dive bump. :) We tend to do that with small projects, sometimes even forcing a 2nd print run! :D I really like your game. I've been thinking about it a lot. I hope there is more in the pipeline!

This sort of minimalist game is always bittersweet for me, like a wasted opportunity. On the one hand, they have super cool settings and ideas, all very evocative and clearly a labor of passion. On the other hand, they always fill like half finished because they systematically require you to work and add content yourself. I wish that for once they went all the way and delivered a game that really takes advantage of all the cool ideas they pour into them. Thanks for sharing these little things, though, they are always super cool!

@@TheDungeonDiveoh yeah, I'm not criticizing what there is (it's a lot for five bucks, for sure), what bothers me is that they could take this, write another 100 pages of awesome content, and in the process make more money. My complain is that I want more, haha

Check out Into the Odd-like games from Old Skull Publishing, by one Diogo Nogueira. The Dead Are Coming (zombie apocalypse), Screams Amongst the Stars (blue-collar sci-fi), Running Out of Time (cyberpunk)... They have an impressive amount of tables and procedures, putting them above many rules-lites, and look pretty damn gorgeous - a bit like Mork Borg, but easier to read. Very evocative books.

@@ЄвгенКорякінI own them, I was a KS backer actually! Those are small games that actually have TONS of content and tools, which is fantastic.

Okay. so you have a quest to go on. Now, what resources would you use to move forward and play out the quest? I mean how would you create the adventure? There are many things going on e.g. witches, the guildmaster's friend etc. It seems to me and I may be wrong but solo games give you the framework the skeleton but not the connections. Thanks for the video.

I just continued with what I had for a couple of hours. Interacting with NPCs, exploring and playing in the sandbox. It's like a game of Skyrim without a main quest. Just wander in a direction and have fun along the way. The fun is in making the connections, and that's where the imagination of play comes into focus. These are games of make believe, not of mechanisms.

It's also good to remember that everything is play. So even just creating the world is part of play. It just may not be play that is meaningful to some people.
