Thee Prophets was a quartet from Milwaukee WI, made up of Brian Lake, lead siger and keyboards; Jim anderson, guitar; Dave Leslie, bass; and Chris Michaels, drums. "Playgirl" was their only Hot 100 hit, peaking at #49 during Spring of 1969. Thee Prophets cut an album for Kapp Records that also contained their follow-up hit, "Some Kind of Wonderful" -- a remake of the Drifters' hit. Record producers Carl Bonafede, Dan Belloc and Lew Douglas were also responsible for the success of The Buckinghams.
