@@stevejohnson3196 FOND MEMORIES… Every year as I’ve grown older, a voice inside me grew ever bolder. Most of these early memories, were shared with love, within our families. And certainly, none of us ever knew that we weren’t rich, and that was true! You see, back then in all large families, not one knew what famished meant. and listen to listen how we never had to ever go without food or clothingMost are from such early times, when of all those things which from an earlier time which made me smile

Please forgive my partial poem I was doing on the fly, but my cat jumped up me three times ,😓as I was composing my poem, and THIS wasn’t finished by any means. I can’t edit or wipe out once the comment button gets hit, and my cat did it three times in a row !!! 😕by jumping up on my bed - and my iPad. Please excuse the mess and I will try tomorrow - again, even if I have to find a way to lock him out.🙏🫠 (just for a little while)!

@lynnrobinson8885 Hello Lynn! Sorry it has taken me awhile to respond. We're out of Minnesota and in Wisconsin. The weather has been hot and humid, but the cooler temperatures are on the way. How are things north of the border? Is your son still on the road to recovery? Take care and talk to you soon, eh Hoser!👍

@@randy1576 Hello Randy, So glad to hear from you! I’ve been thinking of you lately. Hope things are going well for you in your new area. The weather has been just awful here, as well, and the last 2 days have been the worst. We had just enough cool weather a week or so ago to give some of the plants the hint that they should wind down, so I have an early bunch of russet potatoes ready. Tomorrow is supposed to be the last of this really hot weather…thank goodness. Thank you for asking about my son - he is healing remarkably well but he is just itching to get back out walking again. It was so heartwarming to meet so many of his friends at the hospital - they were lovely! Hope things are going well for you in your new area. I haven’t heard, or seen, anything from the edge of night group for just over a week, but perhaps everyone is just overwhelmed by the warm weather. My husband has been building a set of three new “leafs” (leaves?) for a 100 yr old oak table for friends of ours. The table sits 14 people (!). He’s had to colour-match it and found a woman, who works for the company where my husband had to order the wood from, to do that. She provided him with a finished colour board of different stains on a solid piece of the oak wood that he will use. Well, I’m so glad to have heard from you, sure missed you. Take care, now - eh, Hoser ! ☺🫠🙏❤to all, from your Northern friend ! ….….… til next time.☺

@lynnrobinson8885 Hi Lynn! Nice to hear from you too and that your son is doing well. I bet it is hard for him to sit still and not get back to doing what he likes. I broke my wrist when I was younger and couldn't get out riding. It drove me crazy but my mom said it was a blessing to stay stay off of the bike for awhile! Today, the heat has finally let up. I hope it has there as well. The table project your husband is working on sounds cool! That's an art to make things like that turn out beautiful. Like you making things, it's a rewarding feeling when you get to see the finished product. Well, my northern neighbor, enjoy the rest of your week and eat some of those potatoes for me! Take care😉

@@randy1576 Hi, Randy! Well, my son is doing well, but not able to walk as much as he’d like, but he’ll get there. However, when we heard about him breaking his leg, the day after I was in the hospital, my husband said to me he hoped there wouldn’t be a third - he said things like this always come in threes. So, yesterday we got a call from my son’s wife’s place of work ( a nursing home). She had fallen in their huge walk-in freezer, and needed to go to the hospital. Off we went again. She has a concussion, a huge swelling the size of a hen’s egg on one elbow, and a bad bruise on the wrist of her other arm. It was a long day, to say the least, especially for my husband. I believe he must be related to Job! ( or at least knows him well !🙄). I have been able to get a few pounds of russets that were ready, the last two days. I especially like to cook them like this: wash, peel, and cut into 1 and a half to 2” pieces and place in an oven roasting pan which has a little garlic-floured olive oil spread about. Sprinkle with a good few pinches of dried oregano, onion powder and salt. Use another tablespoon or two of the oil and mix the potatoes well. Make sure to spread it all evenly. Bake in oven till tender: I cook it for about 20-25 min. @ 350*F, turn potatoes, and another 15 min or so till they are golden. (you can also sprinkle a little paprika on at the second stage). Hope you like ☺! I’ve already been busy making homemade applesauce that I freeze in small containers for the freezer. I couldn’t go back to ever eating it out of a can! I’ve also been drying my parsley, oregano, basil and onions and shallots. My rosemary I keep in its pot til after Thanksgiving, if I can. Then I take the plant, remove the roots, and freeze it whole in a freezer bag. When I need any, I just pull a section off and it still has all its oil and taste fresh. The other thing I have done the last two years is grow new geranium plants from my old ones each year. When winter has finally come, my plants are secure in cardboard boxes, wrapped in newspapers. I looked up online to find out how to do it. This year I made 12 new plants to add to my original ones for next year. I only really looked into it because a couple of years ago I bought a Martha Washington geranium I had never seen before - it was stunning! So, I followed the instructions to overwinter it in a box, and it came out beautifully! We used this past year to finish putting in the last perennials we wanted. The lilacs have come on and so have the lavendars ( I made small lavendar- scented inserts for pillows for my son and his wife last year). I also use lavendar oil from small bottles to mix with rubbing alcohol in a small misting bottle for our bathrooms. So next year, there should hopefully be a lot less gardening for me. We’ve used flower colours in deep purple shades, pale yellows and whites. We are using the fall and winter to work on turning an extra bedroom into a library. We spent last winter designing it. We are both avid readers, and together we have about 450’ ish books. So I’m looking forward to that! (After I get some more sewing done). Oh dear, I ran on again! Sorry! I just know that you and your wife will enjoy many hours planning all the things you want in making your dreams of your new home, now being built, come true…..and will enjoy planning each and every part of it together!🫠. We are supposed to enjoy the journey, not just the destination! Maybe you will even be able to get away skiing this year! You will have to let us know if you ever plan to come this way! Take care, keep well, stay busy - but take time to enjoy! 🙏❤🇨🇦Your Northern neighbour ☺🫠
