Did they ever tear down the White lakes Mall, I worked at Sears there after the I got out of the Army. I watched the doors open on day one of Westridge Mall.

@@lunaticfringe8559 , Yes, they tore down the White lakes Mall sometime last March. I remember when that opened that Mall. Was in the fall of 1964. I believe it was October. The Westridge Mall opened in early March of 1988. When they had the Grand opening, Vanna White of Wheel of Fortune was there for 3 hours and signed autographs. Vanna White was paid $40,000 to sign autographs for 3 hours. The Westridge Mall sold at auction last December for only a little over 6 million dollars. Shawnee County did have it appraised at 39 million dollars. Shawnee County took a big hit in property tax revenue. The Westridge Mall got hurt (Big Time) when Democrat governor Laura Kelly forced most of the businesses to close during COVID in the Mall for almost 5 months. Laura Kelly decided who was an essential business and who was not essential. Meanwhile, the Westridge Mall still had to pay their loan payments and property taxes. Property taxes were over 4 million a year alone! State of Kansas should have gave the Mall and every business in Kansas that was forced to close down during COVID a refund in property taxes, every month they were forced to close. But they did not. All of the food court businesses went out of business because their rent was $20,000 to $25,000 a month. Still had to pay that rent even though forced to be closed because they were all non-essential businesses. Food court is still completely closed. Only about 30% of the tenants are now left in that Mall. Dillards only main tenant left. (Sad)
